  1. puzzling move by Bloom.
  2. This pen sucks. I don’t care what they did over 2 games. We lost yesterday, because Cora didn’t have trust in the pen and had decided before the game that he needed 6 innings from Pivetta. They started making solid contact against hm in the 4th and he was lucky to get through 5. Other than Whitlock, none of the arms out there (and there are 10) are impressive or reliable. When is Taylor coming back? We could use him. With this collection in the pen, Cora needs to push his starters longer. I also think he should use Whitlock the way the Brewers use Hader— multiple innings, multiple time a week to close out games.
  3. 12 bullpen pitchers and we can’t trust any of them today?
  4. The bats look dead.
  5. They did nothing with the 2 walks to start the inning.
  6. They are set up for a big inning.
  7. Sevy could get through 4 innings.
  8. He has 0 screws.
  9. Gallo ran on the wrong arm.
  10. He is at 43 in the 2nd.
  11. He can’t play either position to a minimum standard. He’s awful.
  12. Has there been any word on Severino’s pitch limit today?
  13. There’s no room for him. The Red Sox have a DH.
  14. He’s lost without sticky stuff.
  15. Decreased velocity? Leaving him on the pen in an extra inning opening day against the Yankees? Both are cause for concern. I felt that his 1st half last year was an aberration and suspicious. How well did he do after the sticky stuff was outlawed?
  16. I didn’t remember these reactions, because I didn’t participate in this thread. I thought the move by Bloom was out of character, and not a particularly good move at that. I had stated prior to the 20121 season that I thought that Barnes was 2 years past his expiration date. It looks like the group of Bloomies who posted in this thread were misguided in their optimism about the move. This was not a bargain, and to mention Barnes in the same sentence as Kimbrel is close to blasphemy.
  17. I don’t recall that. I though it was out of character at the time.
  18. The Barnes 2 yr extension was a real head scratcher.
  19. i like Dalbec. Plus, he has some versatility. Schwarber plays defense like he has a meat cleaver instead of a glove.
  20. in his short tenure, Bloom has made some baffling moves — Diekman (2yrs), Barnes (2 yr extension mid season), Ottavino (5 ERA $8 million). And then there was Danny Santana and Marwin.
  21. Diekman got a 2 year deal? I didn't know that. What am I missing about him other than his contraxt news?
  22. It looks like you had Means, McKenzie and McGee pitch.
  23. What is the under/over date on Diekman getting DFA’d?
  24. And LeMahiue (sp) is an excellent hitter.
  25. This is not an 8th inning guy.
