  1. It looks like the masters of the baseball universe are hellbent on administering a black eye to the sport with this lockout. Will the the regular season start on time? Will they have a full, abbreviated or no Spring Training?
  2. It’s amazing how the people who profit lucratively from a sport that sells itself can manage to ruin the business end of things.
  3. They signed him as a free agent following the 2008 season. He immediately had a knee operation and didn’t play for the Red Sox until June 2009 and played 27 games for them.
  4. Didn’t the Red Sox sign him knowing that he needed knee surgery after picking him up late the previous season and he never played again for the Red Sox.
  5. Matt Andriese has left the country signing to play in Japan. Luckily for him that the Japanese fans don’t boo.
  6. Maybe Bloom should consider signing Clay Buchholz to pitch the first half of the season and Paxton could take over after the ASB when Buccholz always breaks down. It’s a no-brainer.
  7. I am glad to see Gil Hodges finally get in. He remained beloved in Brooklyn until this day almost 50 years after his death. Ted Williams killed Gil’s candidacy for a number of years, while ramming Doerr and Rizzuto through the veterans committee. That always pissed me off. Ted was jealous of Gil because Gil was a gentleman, who was respected and well liked by all while Williams was a nasty prick to everyone for a good part of his life.
  8. The lasting impact of six former players was finally, formally recognized on Sunday with their small-committee selections to the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022. Gil Hodges, Jim Kaat, Minnie Miñoso and Tony Oliva were elected by the Golden Days Era Committee, and Bud Fowler and Buck O’Neil were chosen by the Early Baseball Era Committee in voting that took place in Orlando, Fla. They will all be honored, along with any selections from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America ballot, at the July 24, 2022, induction ceremony in Cooperstown, N.Y. 2021 Hall of Fame Committee election results WWW.MLB.COM The lasting impact of six former players was finally, formally recognized on Dec. 5 with their small-committee selections to the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022. 9. So, the lockout kills the hot stove season. There wouldn’t seem to be any compelling financial reason for this to end anytime soon.
  10. “Sucking up” is a better description as it refers to the action and doesn’t characterize the actor.
  11. I am not panicking, but I am not liking and they are all 3 broken down jalopies.
  12. $11 million for a defensive replacement? I don’t think so.
  13. last season he was worth it, so you can hang your hat on the belief that he has figured out something. You can’t justify not paying Bradley last year but deeming him a good value after having his worst season.
  14. A Dugo in LF? That means that there really isn’t room for Schwarber unless they want to risk defensive catastrophe with him at 1B.
  15. so we will put you in column of people who liked those acquisitions. I’m not joining you.
  16. I guess this means Kike is the full time 2B in 22. And probably Iglesias will not be coming back unless Bogaerts is traded.
  17. Or maybe they will be as good as Martin Perez and Garret Richards.
  18. And the Red Sox are taking back Bradley’s full salary. I am not getting this one. Last year, he wasn’t worth it, but when he is a year older, he is now worth it.
  19. Bloom is collecting broken down Jalopies.
  20. Probably not at $7 million and $10 million. That’s why they signed with the Red Sox.
  21. $10 million and we might see him at mid season? This is reminding me of the John Smoltz signing years ago. I don’t expect to see hIm and he if he shows up, I can’t see him making a difference. It seems to be another expensive Dumpster Dive.
  22. Your wallet is your speed.
  23. Why is it that some players want to sign before the lockout? Is there a financial advantage?
