It looks like the masters of the baseball universe are hellbent on administering a black eye to the sport with this lockout. Will the the regular season start on time? Will they have a full, abbreviated or no Spring Training?

It’s amazing how the people who profit lucratively from a sport that sells itself can manage to ruin the business end of things.

I am glad to see Gil Hodges finally get in. He remained beloved in Brooklyn until this day almost 50 years after his death. Ted Williams killed Gil’s candidacy for a number of years, while ramming Doerr and Rizzuto through the veterans committee. That always pissed me off. Ted was jealous of Gil because Gil was a gentleman, who was respected and well liked by all while Williams was a nasty prick to everyone for a good part of his life.
