  1. The team is very flat. They need a spark to get the offense going.
  2. That last inning was like a stress test.
  3. The team just looks flat.
  4. It’s not a very strong lineup out there today.
  5. if the second pitch is AA plus, maybe he could be a good 5 inning guy who could occasionally go 6. His changeup looks like a plus plus pitch.
  6. we need to make both of them starting pitchers.
  7. I love Day baseball, but I don’t think the players are crazy about it.
  8. Hopefully, Pivetta found something in his last 2 innings last night and can be more consistently effective going forward. If not, they can’t stay with him for more than a couple of more starts. He hasn’t been competitive.
  9. One encouraging development in the game was Danish putting up Donuts.
  10. If he didn’t have that extra flap on the helmet, his cheekbone would have been crushed.
  11. I was harder on him last year. I may need to step up my criticism.
  12. 2021 was a career season for Pivetta. This is the real Pivetta — a 5 ERA pitcher.
  13. Pivetta doesn’t have it tonight. I guess that the 7 run rule is in effect.
  14. Speaking of Bullpens, I am watching the closer of the Rockies, Daniel Bard -- a guy whose career was ruined by the Red Sox. He was never Starting Pitcher material. Bobby V knew it and expressed doubts to him. But Ben indulged Bard's stubbornness and it wrecked his career. Glad to see that he recovered from that destruction.
  15. What are the chances that Groome debuts with the big club this season?
  16. So far, the team is just dull. There isn’t a single starting pitcher who generates any excitement to be worth the price of admission. The only pitcher who generates any interest is Whitlock. On the offense, the only hitter who keeps me in my seat is Devers. The lineup needs more thump. If Bogaert’s wrist is dinged up, this lineup will have trouble producing runs consistently.
  17. Or maybe Cora likes this role for Whitlock. In the postgame, Cora said that this was a role he had been thinking about for Whitlock over the winter. Maybe they will use him like Hader is used by the Brewers -- multiple innings 2 to 3 times a week. He was very efficient today using 40 pitches.
  18. Pathetic effort tonight.
  19. Mark Lemke was pretty bad, but Craig Grebeck was the worst of all time.
  20. Hopefully for Brasier that the valet parking job is still open.
  21. Replacing Schwarber’s bat and Renfroe’s bat with Story’s and Bradley’s isn’t going to get us more runs.
  22. why isn’t Story playing today. Did he strain himself depositing his paycheck?
  23. Did Bloom give a reason for signing Wacha? What did he see in him to believe that he wouldn’t continue his downhill spiral that he has been in for 3 or 4 seasons?
  24. They can’t be worse than I expect. That is for sure. I guess that Barnes must be toast if he didn’t make a single appearance against the Yankees.
