  1. DD shouldn’t wait until camp opens. Move on and make an earnest effort to get Machado, and then tinker with the pitching.
  2. i have no problem admitting that someone is right and that I am wrong. But I don’t do it when it is not true. Enough people told you that you were misrepresenting what I said. But keep trying . It is a good laugh, but an indictment of our education system.
  3. i am glad that you don’t teach reading comprehension.
  4. I guess that you don’t have a sarcasm detector.
  5. I never said that there wouldn’t be one, just that I don’t worry about it, and that it is too far in the future to predict. We are certainly in a window to go for it all with a possible cliff afterward. When you are built to win now, status quo doesn’t make sense.
  6. Again with the false choice. The team was not Championship quality last year and status quo will not convert them into one. They need a big bat.
  7. As you know, I consider it to be irrational to go status quo during a window before a cliff.
  8. I would prefer to move on from JD and take a shot at one year of Machado and go after Harper or Machado next season. I just don’t trust a long term deal with a guy who has played 1 full season— every other year he tops out at 120 games. $30 million a year for a guy playing 120 games a year is like paying $37.5 million for a guy that plays 150 games.
  9. I remember Minky making a double play in his first inning of a double header when he started at 2B.
  10. That's what I would have liked to happen, but DD boxed himself in resigning Moreland for 2 years. Can DD trade Moreland?
  11. Advanced defensive metrics had AGon as a better fielder than Dewey Evans. LOL!!
  12. That was a beautiful thing.
  13. Yankee fans are good losers, but obnoxious winners. Red Sox fans, generally are the opposite. We need to change that and really turn up the obnoxious attitude when we win. Otherwise, the Yankee fans always get the better of us.
  14. LOL!! Moon would have to come back under a fake account.
  15. Add a prospect -- maybe Groome or something less.
  16. DD has boxed himself in a bit by resigning Moreland.
  17. You might be able to buy Extra Innings a la charge on your cable package.
  18. Yes, 6/$150 million is also an overpay, especiallyvin light of the fact that we could have had Encarnacion for a mere fraction of that last year. At 6/$150, I would be tempted to get Machado for one year before the Yankees swoop in for him. Then next off-season they could make the big push to re-sign Machado or sign Harper or just raise another WS banner.
  19. This would piss me off:
  20. Kimmi, you noted that I didn't answer your question, and on that you were right. http://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/18463-2017-18-Hot-Stove-Thread?p=1114734&viewfull=1#post1114734 Edit: Sowho is backtracking, Kimmi?
  21. Hitch, I think you are having a cognitive glitch. I deliberately didn't answer Kimmi's question. If I thought 7/$210 was a good idea, I'd have no problem stating that, but I don't so I haven't.
  22. Oh, I see a second stab at explaining your incorrect post. Me saying that it is irrational not to add a big bat in a window period does not equate to adding a big bat at a ridiculously high cost. That is a false choice. JD may be the only big bat left on free agency, but there are other possibilities. DD could revisit getting Machado (maybe only for one year). He could also see if he could swing a deal for someone else. ^This is faulty logic. Your original post had 2 premises, both which were incorrect. We have discussed only one — whether anyone proposed or supported a 7/$210 million deal. No one has and your attempts to explain your statement have not established anything. The other incorrect premise is that the same nonexistent people who supported 7/$210 also complained about existing large contracts. That is also not true. No one has complained about the size of those contracts, but rather the poor judgment regarding the talent that they signed to those contracts. Several of those guys have been completely worthless. Bother premises in your accusatory post were erroneous rendering your post worthless except to be argumentative. And I am not pulling back on any point. Status quo in a window period is irrational. Moon has said that he agrees and he also doesn’t like $7/210 million.
