  1. Ortiz looked pretty godd around the bag. Snow, on the other hand.....
  2. If you remove one of the well-functioning parts of the bullpen, it will stress the other guys, and before you know it the performances start to fall off one by one, and the pen becomes a weakness. When the 2004 Sox lost Scott Williamson, there was a snowball effect, and everyone started to under-perform. They did not get back on track for a good part of the season.
  3. Schilling, Curt INN 58.3 Wins 6 Losses 2 K 52 BB 9 H 57 ERA 4.166 WHIP 1.131 Johnson, Randy INN 57.7 Wins 5 Losses 4 K 41 BB 18 H 62 ERA 5.619 WHIP 1.387 Yea, this looks like a close comparison.
  4. Will we be looking at a save situation?
  5. Why risk an injury to Lowell. He's probably not loose or ready to play. Leave him to finish the game and then let him rot on the bench.
  6. It's a solid start, but he would've felt a lot better about it if he didn't leave the game after giving up a 3-run dinger when he should have been showering.
  7. He looked gassed to me on the Walk. There should have been a visit to the mound.
  8. Terry sitting on his ass when Beckett shouild have been out of there. Way to go Terry. Nice way to turn a good outing into s***.
  9. JT and Harris are now in the game. I'd bet that neither one is on the roster on August 1st.
  10. A non-baseball matter: Will someone please join me in petitioning Pepsi to discontinue That Jimmy Fallon commercial.
  11. Nice blast by AGon. His ocassional power is a nice thing, and that plus his superior fielding ability should keep Cora firmly planted on the bench.
  12. Game Date ......... Win..... + ...... # HR'S ... + ... # Runs Scored ....... Total ........5/22.............. __1_...... + ......... ___2_ .... + ......... ____5___ ........... _8____ ........5/23.............. _1__...... + ......... ___3_ .... + ......... ___6____ ........... ___10__ ........5/24.............. __1_...... + ......... __3__ .... + ......... ____7___ ........... ___11__
  13. Why should the Yankees have won on Friday, because their Ace was throwing BP? That just makes no sense. He old and he sucks. You should be frightened every time he takes the hill.
  14. Cheap shot by Barrett. If you want to square off with a guy fine, but this was a cheap shot. And if you are going to sucker punch someone if you've got anything you should knock the man off his feet. AJ took that weasel's best shot and shook it off like nothing. So AJ is a ball-breaker. When I was a kid they all broke balls on the opposition. Bench jockying was part of the game. Major leaguers are wimps and prima donnas today.. AJ is a winner, and no one can take that away from him. He plays the game hard and he play to win and take no prisoners. More players should have his attitude. Personally, I am sick of watching opponents hug each other on the field before games.
  15. Why can't Wake throw like Beckett.
  16. He wasn't coaching for the Sox last year, so I didn't follow him.
  17. C'mon Tek make it 6 years in a row.
  18. Base hit throught the second base hole by Nixon-- two runs
  19. Scared of Manny. Walks him to load the bases.
  20. The game was a defensive mess. The Yankees are showing that they are just a terrible defensive team. Their IF defense is a joke. The Mets matched them with the bad D, but Pedro shut down the Yankee lineup without breaking a sweat. He can do that to any lineup that has only 5 good hitters. If it had not been for the errors, including his own, he may have been able to go 9. Pedro and the Mets had the victory earned. The two homers had nothing to do with the errors. Moose just gives up a lot of dingers. Wagner gave away the game in the 9th. He imploded against the bottom of the Yankee lineup. He could've grooved fastballs to those bums and escaped with the win. He was a complete disaster. By the 25 pitch mark it was obvious that he had nothing left.
  21. Iwas on the field during Mets BP today and Floyd put on a show. I am not surprised that he went Yard.
  22. Pedro can pitrch in any league any where and he would dominate. He is the greatest pitcherof the last 40 years. It's as simple as that. It was a major blunder to let him go, and sign the likes of Clement and Wells.
