This is terrible news about Wakefield. It looks like the Sox wil be forfeiting 2 out of every 5 games for a while. That will put tremendous pressure on the other starters not to mention the bull pen. This could culminate in a prolonged bad streak where they lose something like 7 out of 10. This might not happen right away, but they will not be able keep their heads above water for very long with no one in the 4th and 5th slots. Maybe the Sox should just forfeit one game every 5 days to give the rest of the team a rest. Playing those games will take a huge toll on the team.
The Sox probably don't have any certainty about how long he'' be out. It's probably a hairline fracture that will heal in a couple of weeks, but when he returns will will depend on how quickly the discomfort subsides.
This is a good move by the FO. It made no sense to part with top prospects if they didn't have long term plans for Beckett. Beckett is a stud. Despite the criticisms and some bad performances, he's tied for the league lead in victories.
I could give a s*** about Lance Armstrong. I don't deny his accomplishments, but they are in a sport that no one watches and no one would give a s*** about except for the fact that Armstrong beat cancer. What I like about Armstrong is that the French hate him with a passion. Go America!! f*** the French traitorous ingrates!!
Redman looked good today, and Meche and Piniero have looked good against the Yankees. It may not be a bad idea to pick up one of these guys if the price is right.
I believe a curfew van be waived, but usually when it isw the last game of a series on the last trip by the opposing team. I have no rule to cite. I am just going by memory and experience.
Is this some kind of joke, a 9th inning rally led by Andy Phillips, Aaron Guiel, and Bubba Crosby? I swear that they are luckier than any franchise in sports.
Lester is needed to step up like this with the cloud hanging over Wakefield's health. Also, I hate to admit it, but we need fatman back in a big way if they don't make a significant acquisition.
Pick pick up for the pen. Lester came up big tonight. He can really pitch well in a tight game--- just more evidence of the kid's beach ball-sized balls.
I think he has been DL'd a few times in his career.
IMO they are far superior to the Braves. Plus, I don't think the Braves are as good as the Marlins.
