  1. Mods get the sniper Jon_Papelboner out of here now before the last two games and ruin his weekend.
  2. If your definition of a bandwagon fan is someone that has traveled thousands of miles to watch the Red Sox over 39 years through thick and thin, someone who stuck with them through the Butch Hobson crack-pipe years, then you are an ignoramus. (idiot is being overused lately) Someone who roots for and supports the FO despite their obvious poor performance is a ball washer or a groupie.
  3. ORS, you are a miltary guy right? Jon_Papelboner is a sniper. We have to take out the sniper. No snipers allowed on this site. As obnoxious as he was., Rivernator was not a sniper.
  4. I appreciate the kind gesture, and i should probably save myself from additional aggravation, but I can't help myself. I'll make the trip to Ft. Myers in March and be all optimistic no matter how the FO massacres the off-season.
  5. I agree. Get him out of here.
  6. We are in the midst of a total meltdown. It's like a the 2001 spiral when Varitek went down mixed with a dose of the 1978 Boston Massacre. This isn't a little skid. This is an annihilation and an embarassment.
  7. They would've made the playoffs that year, but for the injuries to Pedro that wiped out his season and Varitek. It was a retooling year. Try this link. You can see more than the one year. Look at the last year the Sox won a division-- 1995. Duke had the 18th highest payroll. When the Sox went to the playoffs in 1999 and 2000, he had the 5th highest payroll. He had the 2nd highest payroll only once-- 2001. Key Injuries, 2 idiot managers and Carl Everett destoyed that teams chances. After that year Duke was fired and Theo has had the second highest payroll for 5 straight years. In that last two years he's managed to dismantle a champion and feared competitive team and reduce them to a $120+ million joke. http://asp.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/salaries/totalpayroll.aspx?year=1995
  8. I've been waiting for that one too.
  9. LL should go to JH and say "I gave the kid a shot to run things his own way. I've pretty much stayed out of his way. He had free rein and look where we are. Theo needs to be on a short leash taking orders from me. If you disagree, you'll see more of the same next year and the year after because the kid doesn't have a clue. In two more years you'll have to fire him, because the fans will be demanding it."
  10. Bring back Duke and give him $125 million and this team will be in the playoffs every year.
  11. Fox felt sorry for the Red Sox.
  12. I still can't get over the 9 walks from Beckett. :wtf: That's like a little leaguer's pitching line.
  13. I like these ideas. I'm on board.
  14. If that was the main thrust of your argument, then you shouldn't have spent so much time on the logjam argument. That is very poor debating strategy. You argued it so much that Riverside jumped in and took up your cause.
  15. Caught in what blatant lie? You are incredible. Find a post where I thought it was okay for the Yankees to get Abreu. I pretty sure I had some prior posts where I complained about it, but you do the research. You won't find any posts where I thought it was a good move not getting Abreu. But take your time and do the research, before you call me a liar. What next... will you accuse me of just bringing up the Damon issue? I have been called a broken record on that one. It's been banned as a topic.
  16. Uh, I have been against the Damon thing from the beginning. It was a stupid move and it messed with a great winning formula on offense. If you hate this site, go to another one. Go find Theo's fan club site.
  17. So, why did you waste so much of your energy arguing about him fitting in? I knew the issue was money from the beginning. I read the excuses in the article. I disagree with the FO not reaching into their pockets a little deeper to have given this team a chance. They didn't. If you are now limiting your argument to the Money, we can agree to disagree.
  18. That is a wise move not to argue with me, becuase I'd twist you up in your illogical arguments and frustrate the hell out of you. BTW I really don't care who likes me. You are cyber-people, not my friends. It was a much better move to let the Yankees have him and sit and watch "The Boston Masacre --Part II" How happy are you to watch our team being humiliated? BTW We have the second highest payroll in baseball. There is no reason why the team should be this bad except for FO incompetence. Thsi is my favorite stupid argument. Why don't you go root for the Twins or some other small market team that whines about finances and invests in a future that never comes. Before he starts to decline, he'll have to stop getting better. I hope you enjoy watching him and Pedro performing at high levels in the post-season. Okay, I'll call you an apologist.
  19. He's toast. Way to stick with him for too long. Go bring in one of our baby relievers so this can get completely out of hand.
  20. Listen , this all started with a post where I thanked Theo for not picking up all of Abreu's contract. I sat and let you and the other guy go crazy about how he wouldn't fit our roster, yada yada yada. When I pull out the proof, that it was not about the logjam but it was about the money, you say yeah, but what about the $. Thank you for proving the point of my original post. I'll repeat it here: "Theo thanks for not picking up Abreu's full contract."
  21. Another double from Over the Hill Johnny (hereinafter OTH Johnny). Theo and Company will be walking funny after this weekend, because OTH Johnny just stuck it up theirs. Nice 7 walks today Beckett
  22. ya WMP is the RF for 2007---Abreu still has a huge contract for 2007--so what do you do with him? Plus we need to get him regular ab's this year. Trot is said to be back in a week, not the end of the year-----and they wlll not DFA Kaplar---he is a good defensive replacement. I will say it again though----why spend the money there when we have greater needs.......havng abreu in RF doesn't fix our starting pitching and bullpen problems,,,,but it takes a big chunch of the money we could use for that I'll give you a chance to read my last post. Then I would suggest deleting theis post as it is nothing but babble in light of the true facts.
  23. Here's why you are the official idiot. The Red Sox inquired into getting Abreu before Nixon even got hurt. They asked for the Phillies to to pick up $6 million of his salary. They thought they had a deal, but the Phillies got the Yanks to pick up the entire salary. We didn't make the deal because of the $, not because of the logjam. HE would start and play full time and he'd be destroying the Yankees instead of the other way around. Here's the link to the article that proves you are wrong and the official idiot. BTW; I am glad that you had been nice up till now. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2006/08/18/red_sox_had_interest_but_chose_savings/
