  1. All he needs is for his legs to be healthy.
  2. Maybe there could be a Pavano-Clement swap?
  3. An overpaid utility player. If we miss the Matsuzaka bid by $1+ million, it will be because we gave it to Cora when we could have had Machado at the minimum wage.
  4. It would just highlight the foolishness of those non-moves.
  5. He stinks. Machado could have filled the spot as well as Cora, plus he has more speed and versatility. And they didn't have to pay him $1+ million a year. It was a waste of money. This isn't a depth move. Depth means strengthening a position. You can find Cora's all over the minor leagues. They would have been better off if they had added the $2.5 million to the Matsazuka bid.
  6. Welcome. You'll get a good baseball education here.
  7. I don't see the Red Sox winning a bid like this going against the two NY teams.
  8. Welcome. I am sure that you have a lot to share on these boards.
  9. Players like Cora are a dime a dozen. The Sox should be going after Soriano and they have Pedroia to be the infield utility guy. Instead they will be handing Pedroia the starting job, and he couldn't hit .200 in 90 ABs. That's two light hitting infielders. Youk is average. Gonzo is below average, and Lowell is not a major force. I am hoping for more of an infield shakeup than Lugo.
  10. Don't count me in this camp. The Sox problem is not a lack of funds. They have plenty of dough. Their problem is poor decisions. If they finsh third in the AL East two years in a row with the second highest payroll, heads will roll and deservedly so.
  11. Not if the pitchers have figured him out and he becomes a .250 hitter with no power like he was in the second half of 2006. I'm not willing to take the bet that his second half was due to fatigue. He's a first baseman not a catcher. I think the league has him figured out, and .250 hitter with 100 k's and no powerwill not be worth much. His upward ceiling is just not high enough to justify the risk that he ends up being a slow-footed, average fielding corner guy off the bench. Sell high. This guy has nowhere to go but down.
  12. The Sox problem is not $. They've got the money to spend on FA's,but there is a limited pool of good relievers available. Youk will get us more in a trade than the bag of rice we would get for Lowell, so why not trade him for a good arm to shore up the bullpen.
  13. I am surprised. I thought they would go big for Soriano. Maybe they want him for LF instead of 2B.
  14. Manny was hitting about .900 for his career against Benson at one point this year. I don't think that is an exaggeration. I'd be surprised if the Yankees traded Sheff to any team in the AL East.
