Of course, I would welcome a bad year by Moose, but the pattern for this guy in the last few years has been that he has been breaking down more often. If he stays healthy, I stand by my opinion that he is a whining weanie. Edit: You might say that Moose breaking down is predictable.

It's ironic that Jeter's most popular catch (photographically at least) was in a year when the Red Sox finally won the World Championship in storybook fashion. Other legendary catches like Mays catch in the 1954 World Series and Swoboda's 1969 catch against the Orioles were part of the lore of a World Championship.

Great move. Seeing him will always remind me of the time he trotted around the bases thinking hit a HR while Manny made the catch in the OF. I always gigle when I see him.

It would be a major kick in the balls to the Yankees if Clemens returns to the Red Sox. I think JH and Theo would love to kick them in the balls, or maybe I'm just projecting my own emotiuons.

My gut reaction when Randy was obtained by the Yankees was that I was upset. My reaction when he left town for prospects was relief. These were my honest emotional reactions. Maybe one or more of these prospects will be good major leaguers in a couple of years... or maybe they'll just be 3 turkeys that will have been forgotten. Right now, I am glad that big ugly lefty is out of town. BTW: Just because I revelled in his failures in pinstripes doesn't mean that I loved for that he was a Yankee. I also revel in ARod's failures, but I'd take him on the Sox for prospect (blue-chippers too) in a heart-beat.

On another message board I read that John Sickles rates the 3 prospects received by the Yankees as the 18th, 19th, and 20th prospects in the D'Backs system, all getting grades of C+. I think I would trade our 18th, 19th and 20th prospects plus Tavarez for the Unit.

He came up as an infielder with stone hands and he was quickly moved to the OF. He wasn't a bad little ballplayer, and the friendly right field porch of the old Yankee Stadium was made for his swing. He was a bit over-hyped, but solid player. He would freak out every time he would face Gaylord Perry. If Perry touched his hat or his head, Murcer would demand that the ump check the ball and inspect Perry. Perry had him so psyched out that he never had to load up the ball to get Murcer out. He was defeated before Perry went into his wind-up. Murcer's Yankee career was effectively ruined by the Yankees' temporary move in 1974 to Shea Stadium which psychologically defeated him and resulted in his trade to the Giants for Bobby Bonds before the 1975 season. Candlestick Park in SF was also not a favorite of Bobby's and he didn't return to offensive prominence until he was traded to the Cubs. As an announcer, he has always been an easy listen. He has a good sense of humor. He does not make the game about him like lots of color analysts who over-analyze the slightest minutiae. He's almost devoid of ego. He's just a regular guy talking about the game. None of the reports have said whether his tumor is malignant, but the fact that they have not released a report that it was benign makes me think that his prognosis may not be very good. I am hoping that he will make a full recovery and return to the booth soon.
