  1. Gonzo has outperformed Lugo offensively. The Damon move has looked shrewd because even an injured Damon has outperformed both a healthy Crisp and a healthy Drew? Yes' date=' very shrewd indeed. Dice-K is a legit solid starter, but on this year's team he is firmly behind Schilling and Beckett. $100 million is a heckuva a lot to spend for a #3 starter, but I am glad they did. Continue on with your FO Ballwashing.
  2. Roger, go into Joe's office and tell him you want the ball on Sunday. If you do that, chances are that you'll be starting on Sunday. I think you are a huge wuss and you will start Monday against the ChiSox and you'll let Torre take the heat.
  3. Thanks again! I may have to sign over the trademark to you, because you are on a great streak.
  4. Okay, this is getting a bit bit scary. Everything is too perfect. We win a game where the key plays are a an unbelievable diving catch by Crisp with 2 outs and runners aboard, a stolen base by Youklis leading to the tying run, a couple of filthy innings by Piniero, and a HR by Pedroia off Gagne after a 12-pitch AB. You couldn't write the script for this game. Wow!
  5. Unlike the 2006 Tigers, inexperience will not cost these Red Sox. Injuries are what could derail their train.
  6. Who is looking to run Drew out of town. The way he is playing we are stuck with him for 5 years. Does it break some regulation on this board to evaluate the moves of the FO as the season goes along. If Nixon outperforms Drew this season, and we could have Nixon for $3 million as opposed to $70 million for 5 years, we would have had a lot of dough to throw at any one of the three available CF's that will be available this off-season- all of whom I like much better than Drew. Again, this is a snapshot look, and this will probably not be the case at the end of the season as will Youklis' .330+ BA.
  7. What an overpaid pussy! Are they afraid of ruining the 23 year veteran's psyche? What a pussy. He should be demanding the ball.
  8. Schilling, Wakefield and Beckett don't have two wins against the Yankees this year. I think Tavarez is doing much better than expected and in the big spots.
  9. You bact like Youk is in the same class as Helton. That will never happen.
  10. So, this rate of decline will continue at a consistent pace? I think injuries have had something to do with his so-called decline, and now that he is healthy, he is looking better than he has in two years. Has he permanently reversed an inevitable decline that comes with age? No, but is not continuing to decline at the same rate. He's 33. He's not a relic.
  11. He's one of the most genuine guys in the Sport. He's doesn't dish the usual BS for fan and media consumption. He just tells the truth. It's a business, and it could happen. I am sick of the "team disrespected me" crap from the players, and "the [new team] made me feel more wanted." I am sick of the FO saying that they "made a good faith offer" or that they didn't get a chance to counter offer. Let's get it out in the open. Our guys would stay if the Sox made competitve offers, and the team will not make competitive offers to those guys that they really don't want to keep. That's the whole truth.
  12. I appreciate the help. Until I get back home next week, I need you guys to pick me up.
  13. Rockies need to eat 30 to 40% of Helton's salary.
  14. Was my statement accurate? If this hold by the end of the year, the Drew signing will have been a huge mistake, becuase we will be stuck with Drew for 4 more years at $14million/year. We could have used that dough to make a run at Ichiro, Hunter or Andruw jones to play CF. I'm not saying that this will hold until the end of the year. It is just a snapshot. It's more useful than the prospect stats that I read on these boards all the time.
  15. Youk is an average player with little pop. First baseman don't usually last more than 4 or 5 years as starters.
  16. Helton is 5 1/2 years younger, and yes, in less than 5 1/2 Yeaqrs Youk will be lucky if he is hanging onto any team's bench. Helton is likely to still be a productive starter somewhere at that time. Really, Youk does n't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with Helton. Helton is one of the great hitters of his generation.
  17. Why would we want a guy who should end up with every record in the book? Why would we want that?
  18. Helton is a proven super star, not just a really good hitter. The guy is upper echelon. By the time Youklis is Heltons's age, he'll be lucky to be warming someone's bench.
  19. More than a quarter through the season and Trot Nixon is clearly outperforming the clearly overpaid J.D. Drew.
