  1. It would be great to put some pressure on CC and get a couple of more runs here.
  2. Nice play by Pedroia. He's getting hot with the bat too. Had it not been for the DP, last inning would have been a big inning.
  3. McCarver jumping on Manny, but he couldn't score from 2nd on what Lowell did so STFU. When Jeter had a case of the giggles (twice) when the Yankees were behind 4-0 in their elimination game, no one said a thing, and he hit only .170 something. If Manny was giggling, everyone would be incensed.
  4. He's an ass. last night he went on and on about Manny. .. something that was completely irrelevant to the outcome of the game. It's no wonder he got fired after one year in Florida. I hope the Yankees hire him.
  5. Unless they were going to make him sit on the bench naked, he's an idiot for turning it down. They haven't wanted him there for the last couple of years and he didn't walk away. What changed now that he walked away other than the money?
  6. Does any other manager make as much as $5 million/year? Torre was an idiot to turn down this deal.
  7. How many teams have 4th OFs that hit .260 with no power that have similar contracts for 3 years. I disagree with your view that a 3 year contract is not a long term contract.
  8. You are the one that keeps bringing up Damon. I said that Crisp was a poor replacement for Damon. I didn't say Damon could still play. When we had Damon, he was an offensive catalyst. Crisp, his replacement, is not. I am not saying that Damon can still play, nor am I saying that Damon is not overpaid. I am saying that Crisp is not a full time starting CF. He's a 4th OF and pinch runner. You don't need to sign 4th OFs to long term contracts. They are roster fillers, not long term commitments. He's not what the FO thought he would be. They thought he was a budding talent. He is not. That was poor judgment. What's your point? Are you saying that he helps the team offensively? This is not a comparison to Damon. It's an evaluation of Crisp.
  9. How many wins would he get for us if he hit .300 and scored 100 runs? I don't know how that defensive win share thing works, but does it count his arm against him and all the extra bases taken by runners that eventually score?
  10. We need Pedroia to get hot and get on a roll for two or three games. That is the spark we need.
  11. The pool of catchers is much thinner than 4th OF's. Edit: As good as Crisp was at catching flies, he has no arm at all. Third string catchers tag up on him. Runners always take the extra base. He's a 4th OF and pinch runner. As a starter he's a gaping hole in the lineup
  12. Girardi is making a big deal about Manny showboating. Would someone tell me if that had any impact on the outcome of the game? I think he should analyze why the Guardians won.
  13. Darren Lewis should make a comeback. Crisp needs to hit the bench.
  14. That is overpaying for a 4th OF with little re no offensive pop. He is Darren Lewis with more speed and a much weaker arm. The FO expected a lot more from him than they have gotten.
  15. Pitching is at a ridiculous premium. What will Crisp be making over the remainder of his contract?
  16. Damon's is expensive, but when healthy he is worth it. Will he be healthy again? I don't know. Crisp is just overpaid. Plain and simple. He's a 4th OF at best.
  17. Theo looks sick. He's got Drew and Crisp signed long term on his recommendation, but Lowell is ready to walk.
  18. Crisp has been a bust of a replacement for Damon. I know that he fielded great, but there was no reason to give an expensive contract extension to a defensive specialist.
  19. That just doesn't happen any more.
  20. No, they felt that they didn't need him. Afterall, Wake was due for a quality start. He hadn't had one for six weeks.
  21. He's got Joe Torre disease without the burnin g the bull pen syndrome.
  22. The thing that could turn the momentum would be if Pedroia gets his s*** together and has a multiple hit game and is on base 4 or 5 times. That would set things up nicely for the big guns.
