  1. I think Pedro can still be successful. I think he is capable of running off a string of 4 or 5 wins at any time.
  2. Mo had everything to do with it. He almost singlehandedly has saved the Yankees season-- at least temporarily. The Yankees have not played any better. Their run production is still down. Girardi has decided to use Mo for two innings at a clip to save the season. That is a temporary fix.
  3. The Yankees are pulling out all of the stops just to stay alive. Mo has pitched in 3 of their last 4 games not counting the off day. He has gone 2 innings in 2 of those outings. It's early July , and Girardi is whipping him for two inning twice in 4 days. I hope he keeps it up. mo will continue to take the ball. Mo wants the ball, but this kind of use will kill the goose that has been laying the golden eggs for the last 12 years. It's only a matter of time before it all starts to crumble. Rasner has already shown that he is a pig. I expect that he'll be back in the minors by the first week of August. Ponson is a pig. You can put lipstick on him, but he is still a pig. It's only a matter of time before he comes apart like a cheap pinata. They need Matsui to get healthy. Posada was an excellent offensive catcher, but he is not a great DH. They are holding it together with bubble gum and rubber bands right now. When the dog days come, they will crumble. They are old at key spots, and the organization is too thin in talent to fill the voids when injuries occur. It's a very bad combination.
  4. Even though he wasn't at his very best, it is a good sign that he is taking the team deep into games.
  5. They always seem to find a way to win at home. Nice pressure save by Papelbon. He will not be available tomorrow. They'll need to win big.
  6. There's the punch out! Now, just any out.
  7. What the heck is Crisp doing? Papelbon needs a punchout.
  8. Now the crowd is alive. The TalkSox site is dead. I think Moss will be a very good hitter in a year or two. Papelbon go 3 nights in a row.
  9. Who will pitch the 9th if tied... if they have the lead?
  10. Just Manny being Manny!!! Yes!
  11. The Park is dead tonight. The offense has to do something to get the crowd into it.
  12. No one can shut up the Yankee fans like JHB.
  13. At least it was the players that voted in Tek. The players don't give props to undeserving players. They know what it takes to play the game and they know what a guy brings to the table. The players' vote was a tremendous sign of respect for Varitek. The adoring fans voted in Jeter who was named as the most over rated player by his peers-- not exactly a sign of respect. Why should Jeter be on the team? He has a lower OBP than Lugo and 5 SBs to Lugo's 11. Jeter has always had a way of backing into the All Star game. When the stuffing of the ballot box by the adoring fans wasn't enough, Clueless Joe would bring 4 or 5 Shortstops or however many it would take to bring him. Because Clueless Crooked Joe flagrantly disregarded better players to bring his boys, Baseball had to take most of the discretion away from the managers. The low point was the year when ARod, Nomar, Tejada and Vizquel were all having clearly better years than Jeter. Joe brought 5 SS so he could bring Jeter. Five Shortstops? Ridiculous.
  14. You guys have become terribly spoiled. As far as I am concerned, none of our guys from the 2004 and 2007 teams suck. It's hard to say that a starting SS on a World Series Champion sucks. Are there better options? Yes, but there are better options at just about every position. Lugo has plus range, a strong arm and good speed on the bases. He steals a lot of bases. On most of the teams I have watched throughout the years, he would be considered to be our speed threat, but he plays with Crisp and Ellsbury who are even faster. He has been a disappointment offensively, but he does have a higher OBP than Jeter at the halfway mark. Is he the biggest problem on the Red Sox? No. I think we need the starters to go deeper into games to cover up for a deficient bullpen. We need Ortiz' big stick back in the line up and we need to move Ellsbury down in the order and put Youk in the two-hole to set the table with Pedroia if Ellsbury continues in his funk.
  15. Dice k was lucky to escape that inning.
  16. Nice play by Youks for the DP on the line drive.
  17. I agree. I was hoping that they would release Cora earlier in the year when he was on the DL and Lowrie was proving that he could handle 3 IF positions and hit better than Cora. Now, is the time.
  18. I hate when Papelbon goes to his secondary pitches when the batter is so clearly overpowered by his fastball. Edti: It almost always ends badly.
  19. Mo may have saved their season the last couple of games.
  20. I don't like this matchup with a little slappy kid up there. Edit: I hope he is up there trying to jack one.
  21. A friend of mine calls Posada "Topo Gigio" if any of you are old enough to remember the Ed Sullivan Show. There is a resemblance.
  22. Okay. How about a couple of bloops and a bad throw.
