    This trade is not as unbalanced as it appears at first blush. Hudson is having a big years as is Mauer. Jeter is not what he used to be. I see no reason to veto the trade, unless there is some evidence of collusion.

    This is what the post-Manny & Ortiz era looks like. yes there are some excellent hitters: Pedroa, Youkilis and Bay, but it is a lineup that doen't inspire fear in pitchers. There is no anchor to the lineup. There is no one who makes pitchers change their approach with regard to the rest of the lineup.

    Probably nothing happened to him. The opposing batters have adjusted to his stuff and they are making him pay for his mistakes.

    A bad inning of 4 or 5 runs every game will result in a bad year. Bucholz had blow up innings last year and the stuck with him until he was 2-9 and ruined the team's divisional chances. After today, he'll be 3-5 with 6.07 ERA. If this continues, maybe they should consider sending Lester to the Bullpen when Smoltz is ready or when Bucholz is promoted.
