    If he retires, we probably cannot offer him arbitration. After January 1st, he can do a Brett favre and sign with someone and it will not cost them any draft picks. Maybe he has found a loophole and outsmarted our FO.

    Example, I am very glad to see that the majority of your recent posts have dealt with using prospects to get stars. I have been saying that that is the primary purpose of the minor league player development system. It's very difficult for a system to develop impact stars. They are a very rare breed and an organization is lucky if they develop 1 in.10 years. Pedroia, Youkilis, and Ellsbury are all nice players, but not really impact players. Given Ellsbury's unbelievable speed that can turn close games, I think he has the best chance of developing into an impact offensive weapon. Papelbon is an impact player. He's the best closer in team history. Lester is a top of the rotation guy, but it took him 2 1/2 years at the major league level to develop into that kind of pitcher and he is still developing. With the solid core that the Sox have now, they need one or two big pieces to become the favorite to win a Championship. There's no time to waste trying to develop more kids into major league contributors.

    Don't torture yourself. Rooting for the Twins against the Yankees is like watching a movie over and over and expecting the ending to change. It never does.

    Leave him. He is the typical Yankee fan, so if you are going to tolerate Yankee fans on this forum, this is what they are like. He is the rule not the exception.

    I told you about Yankee fans. You thought thta if you treated them with respect that they would return the favor. I hope you learn a lesson from this. You torment them constantly when you have the upper hand. Never congratulate them when they win. Just be brutal, because that's all they understand-- like terrorists. I know you are a lib, but I know what i am talking about here. I live deep behind enemy lines. Unfortunately, they have the upper-hand now and they will try to torment me. I'll probably win a lot of money on their team, but I'd gladly kiss it goodbye if their team Charter went down in a fireball.
