  1. I bet with my head not my heart. When the playoffs started, I wanted to bet the Yankees to go all the way, but my betting site was only taking LDS and LCS bets, so I bet the Yankees to win the ALCS. The only team that I thought that had a chance to beat them was the Phillies, but I wasn't sure that they would get past the Dodgers or Cards. Of course, I thought the Sox had a chance to win, but I would have gladly parted with my money to see that happen. I think the World Series odds are out of whack, but Vegas is usually right. I still haven't decided what to do, because of the small payout for a Yankee win. If I let it ride and I lose, it will give me one more reason to hate them.
  2. I got a shot in at both of them in a single concise post.
  3. The betting odds on the Series are crazy. The Yanks are more than 2 to 1 favorites. The Phillies are +165. I won $800 on the Yanks ALCS victory by laying $1000 on them before the playoffs started. I was going to let the whole $1,800 ride on the Yanks in the Series, but I can't see giving those odds. The Phillies are far from the pushovers that the Twinkies are, and the Phillies are much better than the Angels. I would not be shocked if the Phillies pulled the upset.
  4. ORS would have picked up on it. I just got there first. Thanks for the kudos.
  5. So, since Jacko is wrong all the time, only 10% is your own thinking and you are wrong 5% of the time, then you are wrong 50% of the time. Both you and Jacko have terrible track records.
  6. is there anyone warming in the Angel pen?
  7. Vlad is one of the dumber baserunners that you'll ever see.
  8. What is the percentage of dominant pitchers that return to dominance after major surgery in their 30's? Taking a 1 year flyer on a lame armed pitcher is one thing, but spending $15 million is way overboard.
  9. Three years? What if he never returns to form? How reasonable of a cost would that be?
  10. If I was going to take a risk on an injured pitcher, I'd go with Pedro who will be 3 years removed from surgery. I could see him being able to make 25-30 starts next season. Brandon Webb is just coming off surgery, so he'll probably need a full year to get back to full strength. Why should we let him spend that year on our DL. Harden is practically a permanent resident of the DL, and he never pitches for a full saeson.
  11. Paul Blair used to play very shallow. It was almost impossible to drop something in front of him. If you tried to beat him, he could track down almost anything over his head. Ellsbury gets back on balls very well, and let's face it, there isn't that far to go in left center. I'd have him come in about 3 or 4 steps.
  12. What are your thoughts about having him play more shallow in CF? I think it would help.
  13. It doesn't hurt that your team beats him like a drum.
  14. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/other_mlb/view/20091024padres_hire_jed_hoyer_as_general_manager/ How will this effect Theo's pursuit of Adrian Gonzalez? I think it makes it less likely that the Sox will be able to acquire Gonzalez.
  15. From today's Boston Herald: http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/other_mlb/view/20091025sox_hot_stove_fired_up_early/ IMO, he goes back on balls better than he comes in on balls. He should be playing more shallow to compensate for his weakness coming in on balls. Vlad's winning hit in game 3 of the ALDS should have been caught. Ellsbury was playing way too deep and as usual his jump was very late.

  17. They definitely lead the league in horse faces.
  18. He's got one coming to him. Hopefully, Horse Face's luck has run out.
  19. Saturday night may be the game where Karma comes back to bite Pettitte in the ass for being a religious hypocrite, liar and back-stabbing friend.
  20. I watch most Yankee games. I have been saying it since last season that Girardi is an idiot prone to panic moves in important games. As tonight illustrated, he can panic into under-managing as easily as he can panic into over-managing. 228 is completely right about Girardi. If the win the Championship, it will be because the team was so strong that they overcame most of his terrible decisions.
  21. So you voted for a Lib
