  1. He's going to be this season's John Smoltz. We will get nothing out of him. Another piece of garbage picked from the dumpster. They should stop wasting their time on these types of acquisitions.
  2. Do the players really need to supplement their income by charging for their autographs?
  3. Believe me. I hope that it is only the senile dementia talking, but right now I think the Yanks, Rays, and Twins have better lineups than the Sox. Unless Ortiz can start hitting like he did in the second half of 2009, our lineup will not scare many pitchers. Letting Bay walk was a mistake.
  4. I don't see anyone beating the Yanks this season.Barring injury, they should coast to the playoffs and win the series. I hate them!
  5. 65%. Yuk!
  6. He's very lucky that he was diagnosed before that thing exploded in his head and killed or paralyzed him. I don't think he is in the Sox future plans. He'll be lucky if he can function normally.
  7. For years Francona watched opposing pitchers walk or work around Ortiz and/or Manny. If you face them both, one is bound to burn you. Sometimes both will burn you and wreck your pitcher. I guess he doesn't remember.
  8. ...or maybe a severe wrist injury. Wrist injuries have been known to ruin a player's ability to drive the ball.
  9. VMart flashing the legs and the arm today, but not his fault. Francoma managed his team to certain defeat today. I guess the game was going a little "fast" for him today.
  10. It also hasn't helped that Francona pitched to Mauer 3 times with an open base. He's lucky that he got burned only twice. What a damn fool. This should be a 1 run game right now.
  11. Pitching to Mauer with an open base is always a good idea.
  12. The pitcher bears some responsibility, but even with the big jumps allowed, our catchers should still be able to throw out an old lady or opposing catcher occasionally.
  13. He makes Varitek look like Johnny Bench.
  14. We should just put runners on second base, because we have no chance of throwing them out. VMart reminds me of Piazza with his inability to make a decent throw.
  15. More run prevention?
  16. We'll get to our sub-standard bullpen sooner than usual.
  17. Lester is digging a hole for the team. He's getting raked.
  18. The guy is a monster. Playing in Texas has kept him under the radar, but that won't be the case for very long.
  19. My "Drew Bias". That's great! I love the way the guy plays the game. He does everything right. Value has nothing to do with whether I like the guy. The fact is that he has lost a lot of PT to injuries in his career and in his first two seasons with the Red Sox while making top dollar at his position. The members on this board make me laugh with the accusations that I hate players or recently that I have "undying love" for players. I have gone to hundreds of Red Sox games in my life, and I have never booed a single Sox player, not Heathcliff Slocumb or anyone else. I've booed a few managers. I think I am entitled to evaluate a player's performance or worth without these stupid accusations. Really, get a grip and learn how to discuss a matter as an adult.
  20. ... And their pitching isn't bad either. If Nathan didn't get hurt, they would be a very good team, and they still may be a very good team. I think Slowey will have a very solid year making their starters very solid.
  21. Which game is Emmz going to? She should wear her TalkSox shirt.
  22. Up to this point, Drew has not been worth the investment. In 3 years with the team, he has managed to play one full season. In the other 2, he played roughly 3/4 of the season. Before you go jumping all over me for hating Drew, I like the guy a lot. He is close to a top tier player when healthy. That being said, $14 million is too much for 3/4 of a season.
