  1. If Doji wants to take credit for discovering this guy, no one will argue with him. He is not as good as Mprgan Burkhart who was a highly touted Independent League discovery about 10 years ago. At least he had some pop. This guy really stinks. After his first week, he has done almost nothing.
  2. So they are going to follow up Lester's quality start with trash from the Independent league. Embarrassing. I thought we had an organization full of top prospects, so why are we picking through the dumpster at Fenway.
  3. Nava had a rare hit tonight. He's been hitting .163 since July 15th with no extra base hits. He may suck worse than Patterson.
  4. Don't expect much. He'll probably look very over-matched at this level.
  5. Burnett is like Matt Clement without the knock on the head.
  6. I agree that fundamentals were lacking on this team.
  7. It would also guarantee that it would be the World Series with the lowest TV ratings by far.
  8. Papelbon has had his worst season and his highest blown save total (7). Bard has emerged and had a breakout year and yet he has 6 blown saves. That's how good Papelbon's career has been. His worst year is 1 blown save worse than a guy that everyone is raving about.
  9. Oh, I remember discussion about him playing CF, but I thought he actually played some CF in Spring Training for the Sox.
  10. Maybe SCM33 is not far off the mark. In this article by John Tomase of the Boston Herald, he projects Salty as the 2011 starting catcher. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view/20100905for_sox_offseason_to_dawn_early/
  11. Jeter has that Roberto Alomar look. Alomar was chugging along at a high level of excellence. People were talking about him getting 4,000 hits like they have talked about Jeter getting 4,000 hits and then it was gone. After the first year, there were some excuses about an off year etc. He hit .266 that year at age 34. That was the beginning of the end. He played 2 more years and got a total of 178 hits and was out of baseball by age 36. He finished with 2,724 hits.
  12. More FO dumpster diving. It looks like we will have a month of watching Francona take out the trash. Look at today's lineup:McDonald and Lowrie at the top and Hall, Navarro, and Kalish all in the same lineup. Why don't they play Nava too? This way Coello will still think he is in the Independent league.
  13. This guy is a bust. Theo is stubbornly clinging to the first prospect scouting reports for this guy. Two teams have thrown in the towel on him. At least he didn't cost much. Hopefully, Theo still pursues a catcher for 2011.
  14. Drew had a terrible Double Header too.
  15. The Mets said the same thing after last season. This year all of their big guns have been injured again.
  16. They died last Saturday night. They've looked dead since then. That's when the team gave up -- after that game.
  17. Ortiz had a terrible double header. Hopefully he goes deep tomorrow.
  18. Even with the rotation problems, the post season is setting up as a cake walk for the Yankees. The Rangers and Twins have historically been post-season patsies for the Yanks, and I don't think the Rays will be able to stop them if the Rays get to the ALCS. The thought of back to back championships is completely repugnant to me. I will, however, try to make the best of a terrible situation. Last season, my gambling winnings went to buy my new Samsung HDTV. I need to set a goal this year.
