My philosophy is that the FO has to own its decisions. Your philosophy is that they had bad luck. Yes, we differ.

Whether with 20-20 hindsight or looking forward, hypothesizing about who we could have gotten or who we could get is pure conjectural nonsense. We have no idea who is available or their price in money or talent. It's just guessing. However, we can evaluate a bullpen as we watch them perform. Ours sucked from April. Only two other teams in the AL had worse bullpens. Maybe they are making things harder than they really are.

We made it to the last week of the season with our garbage, so they might have put us over the top.

With the benefit of 20-20 hindsight I could come up with anything, and it would have no chance of failing.. right? That could be fun.

If the FO made any moves, I'd come up with some alternatives even though they would be totally wrong.

I have my own ideas, but I realize that whatever the FO does is the right thing.

I'm only in favor of fixing the bullpen if the FO thinks that it is the right thing to do.

That's right. Their FO made some very astute moves. Our FO has not.

He had a concussion issue, and a CitiField issue. It took David Wright a full season to adjust to that place. He has had no shoulder issues whatsoever. The shoulder issue is a total joke. At least he had some knee problems a few seasons ago in Pittsburgh. For the season, he was hitting doubles at a higher rate than he did in 2009, and he was hitting triples (6) at three times the rate than he did in 2009. His HR output was atrocious compared to last season. I don't know how many of you have been to CitiField, but the playing field is enormous. When his brains get unscrambled, he'll return to form next season.

We whine about injuries, but the Twins have been without their All Star closer Joe Nathan for the entire season and without Justin Morneau for half the season. Morneau was hitting .345 with 18 HRs. He was a human wrecking ball when he went down. The Twins were not as stacked with talent as the Sox, so it was a devastating loss. Yet, they won their division and have one less victory than the Yanks and Tampa. The FO went out and obtained two closers-- Capps and Fuentes. We obtained no one.

Great! We can get a minor league roster filler and Dice K can fulfill his potential in the NL. I can hardly wait for that deal. I think we'll be keeping him as a back of the rotation guy, because to trade him with one-third of his contract remaining would be a huge admission by the FO after all the fanfare and the nonsense of Theo calling him Japan's National Treasure. What a stupid thing that was.

They are not going to improve this team by Dumpster Diving for lame and infirm pitchers. They have big challenges. They need to re-sign Beltre or get another third baseman or move Youk to third and get a big stick at first. They need to add a top quality hitting OFer to play LF. They need to add 3 quality bullpen arms. They should re-sign VMart and Tek and pick up Ortiz's option. Let the s*** teams like the Nationals go dumpster diving. It never works out. How did Chieng Ming Wang do this season?

It speaks volumes about the will to win and hard work of the players. It speaks nothing of the organization beyond that. The FO did a terrible job building a bullpen. It did nothing to fortify a wounded team throughout the season. The idiot third base coach cost us at least 3 wins just by himself, but yet the organization left him there to continue to send slow runners to certain deaths. The team's fundamentals... Well... They had no fundamentals. The Rays are a very fundamentally sound team as are the Yankees. There is almost nothing positive to be taken from this season. This was a season when the Yankees were ripe to be picked off due to an aging roster and a disappointing rotation, but injuries, a horrendous bullpen and other factors conspired such that we never really mounted a serious threat. Our season was fun for 3 weeks during interleague play, but the rest of it was a huge disappointment even when we were healthy. Congrats to the Yanks. They went wire to wire on us (except for (opening day). We were behind them when we were healthy and when we were injured. There are no excuses and there was nothing positive about the season other than the emergence of Buchholz. Next season the Yankees will probably fortify their rotation with Cliff Lee, and they will not be easier to beat. The FO will have to step up their game so we are not looking for excuses again next September. Stop whining Red Sox fans. The Yanks have given their fans the right to gloat.
