  1. Ortiz says he will be back with the Sox in 2011. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/
  2. I still don't like the wild card, but I don't completely hate it, because we needed it to win the first championship. I really think what differentiates baseball from other sports is that it is such a marathon and the regular season means more than in most sports. You should add a poll to this thread.
  3. It's a little suspicious that Girardi, the imbecile released this information. This has CYA written all over it.
  4. Looks like a rationalization planted with the press.
  5. I think the Yankees should go to Haiti as a show of support during this Cholera outbreak. That would be a wonderful humanitarian gesture. On the way back, they could all stop at Mo's house to go for a swim in his re-wired swimming pool.
  6. No Rick Peterson... please!
  7. What is the source of the quote used in your post?
  8. As a Red Sox fan, I don't really care what they pay for him. He's an impact arm when healthy. I hope he ends up elsewhere. What kind of satisfaction would it give me if they overpay for him? It's not like that it will be posted on the scoreboard as he is shutting down our team.
  9. His injury history is concerning, but he is about as good a quality arm as you can find in the FA market for relievers. When healthy, the guy is a beast. I'd be happier if the Yanks let him walk. The $10 or 11 million will not break the Yankee budget, and they'll have a lights out 8th inning guy if he's healthy. I hope Cashman takes a pass.
  10. This morning on a local news channel the sports reporter mentioned Steve Swisher as potential trade bait. His report about the Yankees off season was very general, so I was a bit surprised that he singled out Swisher when discussing trade possibilities.
  11. Get lost with your spam. I hope some TalkSox people spam your site. Ban this idiot.
  12. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/articles/2010/10/24/pitching_coach_curt_young_decides_to_leave_as/ A possible replacement for Farrell?
  13. We'll see. George is dead, and Hank likes the horses.
  14. They will not stay pat, but they won a Championship last season and went to the ALCS last year. They are not desperate. I will not be surprised if they don't spend all of the $70 million. The Red Sox are more desperate at this point. They didn't make the playoffs in 2010 and have been beaten by the Rays in 2 of the last 3 seasons. I expect the Sox to spend.
  15. He struck out the first batter he faced and then gave up two singles. Wilson is in now to get 5 outs.
  16. Hypocrite Andy Pet-rat is starting his annual Brett Favre ********. I hope he makes a decision to come back quickly so the Yankees don't go too hard after Cliff Lee. I hate these ******* athletes that cry about being away from their families. He has about 4 months to spend with his family before pitchers and catchers report. Isn't that enough 24/7 time to spend with your family? http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/yankees/pettitte-not-sure-about-returning-to-yanks-in-2011-1.2396375
