  1. If Lester pitches a no-no, victory by the Sox is not a lock with our lineup.
  2. Reddick with another hit, but Tito decided to bat McD 2nd?
  3. I know people who are in and close to the Mets organization. They had trouble meeting payroll last year. They spent no money this past off season and they made a wacky deal with a new minority owner that could cost them control of the team, because they desperately need money. It's fairly well-known.
  4. Pedroia as the cleanup hitter.
  5. Darnell with the DP. What a surprise!! Sure, bat him second. He's batting .120.
  6. They are not going to retain Reyes long term, because they don't have the money. After 2011, he's gone no matter what.
  7. I am not saying that he was going to find that, but he should have DFA'd Cameron and got someone younger and more reliable than Cameron as the 4th OFer. He also should have gotten a major league utility type as the 5th OFer-- someone like Hinske or Wiggington.
  8. Two years ago is a long time in the life of an OFer, especially a 38 year old OFer. He got injured last year and looked like an old war horse. Bautista had the same injury and hit 54 HRs last season playing through the injury. The writing has been on the wall for Cameron. He's toast. You are over exaggerating the major league readiness of Linares, and Navarro to play the OF for the Sox. If this is what you consider depth, I would have told you in March that it was not depth, and I would have been proved right. Edit: If I knew, Theo should have known.
  9. I don't care about dirt dogs, never did, but I do like guys who go to the post and produce every day. JD has never been that kind of player. I don't think there is a lot of value to players who average about 130 games per season. That's just me. I don't see his value as a $14 million player. I never did. Edit: He didn't stink for the Sox. He is a very talented player, but $14 million players should play every day. He has never been an every day player. The fact that he sits out for minor ailments and against tough lefty pitchers have artificially inflated his OPS and OBP. If he played every day, those number would have come down. Those stats are fine, but comparing OPS and OBP of a player who plays every day to those stats for a player who does not play every day is not apples to apples.
  10. 8 options? McDonald- not an option - a bush league hack Cameron- not an option- old over the hill, injured and fat Kalish-- not an option-- needed more seasoning regardless of injury Who were the other 5 options? He built a thin OF, and one thing went wrong-- JD is over the hill. You have to expect some injuries. He had no depth built into the OF-- none.
  11. The Mets will not take salary in return, so they will have no interest in Cameron. No one will. He's lost money. I think the Sox could pull off a deal for Reyes pretty cheaply from a prospect perspective if they would also agree to take Beltran and his salary. It would gut the Mets lineup, so it would be better if the Mets were on a losing streak at the trading deadline. If they are playing well, moving such players would be crushing to the fans.
