    I think his conditioning has deteriorated so dramatically in the last 3 years that he can't even achieve the consistency that he had before and that he is not as durable either. I will admit that i don't like knuckleballers, but when he was younger he would hit a streak every season where he was on his game and he would put together a really strong month. That would spell the bullpen and help the team onto a little run if the top half of the rotation was doing its job. He is no longer capable of going on one of those runs.

    i don't think he has any choice but to send Wake to the hill every 5th day. Miller is not an option.

    I guess he'll keep getting chances at 200 for the rest of the season. With Dice K out for the season and Bulchholz likely out until the end of September, Wakefield's rotation spot is likely secure. Hopefully, he'll get win 200 and hopefully we can win more of his starts. After the season, he should retire. He's had a great career for a guy with no major league talent. 200 wins using nothing more than a trick pitch is amazing. He hasn't deserved a roster spot for the last 3 seasons. He's old and broken down and it is embarrassing that he can't field his position anymore.

    I'd like to see the Sox pick up Francuer. He's the perfect complement to Reddick/Drew.

    The Yankees are back tied for first place with the Red Sox as the Sox start a 3 game series against Tampa while the Yankees are playing KC.

    The Yankees continue to do what they need to do. They wipe out the bad teams. The Sox do not capitalize enough on the weakling teams.

    At the start of yesterday's games, my team was 7-3 for the week. My hitters went 1 for 33!! I think that is the worst single day performance that I have ever had in Fantasy. The OBP was a whopping .086, so someone mixed in a walk or two. 0 RBI and 0 Runs. I got 1 stolen base. Ended the week 3-7.

    This thread carries the wrong name. "Can we lock him up?" Yes. Will they lock him up? None of us knows. Should they lock him up? That's what should be discussed. Matt Albers doesn't replace Jon Papelbon, not even in Albers wildest dreams.

    None of us knows what the FO will do, but we do know how important Papelbon has been to the success of this team over the last several seasons, that he is only 30 with no sign of arm trouble since 2006, and that he is the best closer in Sox history.

    Look what happened to Smoak. You can get hurt out there. A friend of mine had a company picnic years ago and they had a softball game. One of the girls was pitching. A liner hit her in the face and broke her nose. She was getting married the following weekend. She had to walk down the aisle with two black eyes and a broken nose.

    Thanks. I will. At least, I only criticize the way the players play the game. Other posters like to criticize posters. That's out of line in a GT or any thread.

    Freddie Garcia cut his finger and is scratched from Sundays start against Tampa. Burnett will get the start.
