  1. I don't whine about him. I said that he is adequate, that his defense has improved and that I'll be happy if he hits .250. That's whining? Hit the dictionary.
  2. Valentine is not stupid, but he is a smarty pants. He's so impressed that he is the only manager who has an IQ in triple digits. He's just very annoying.
  3. Like I said before, if having his dream job isn't enough, then buh bye. Thanks for the memories.
  4. It's just ridiculous that people think they know what you mean better than you do.
  5. I might care if he becomes a stud at the major league level and someone reminds me about this deal. Until then, it doesn't matter to me.
  6. He has the dream job. If he wants to leave for more money, well then buh bye.
  7. This is very true. We don't have to like or dislike a player based solely on his stats. It is permitted and it doesn't have to be justified.
  8. In August his OPS is .671. Let's see where he ends up.
  9. Let's be clear, this guy is not Johnny Bench. He's not even jorge Posada. People here that think he is"tearing it up" need to wait until the end of the year to get some perspective on this guy. Hopefully, his defensive play continues to improve, because I don't view him as a big part of the offensive club.
  10. She's clarifying what she is saying. I think the poster knows what he/she meant with a post better than the reader.
  11. Ortiz is really not bad at 1B. He wouldn't win any gold gloves due to limited range, and you don't want that big guy diving for balls. He has very good hands, a good accurate arm and decent footwork around the bag. Believe it or not, Ortiz did not lose out first base to Millar based on the fielding, but on the bat. When the Sox got Ortiz in 2003, they had no idea what they had as an offensive force. Going into the season, Millar was thought to be the better offensive player-- a full time player. Ortiz and Jeremy Giambi were vying for DH. When Giambi went down with an injury and Ortiz took the job and his offensive game took off. By that time, they were a couple of months into the season. Why mess with success.
  12. If he hits .250, I'll be happy. His defense has improved a lot. He's adequate and he plays a position where most players are not very good.
  13. And even she thinks that Francona stays too long with his starters and that he is overusing Bard and Albers.
  14. Lackey's ERA is down to 5.98. That might ne good enough for 12 wins.
  15. 7-run rule is always in effect.
  16. Lead off runner is on.
