  1. How close did the 2006 Cards come to blowing a playoff birth?
  2. Really...you think so? What has he been saying?
  3. It's one thing for the DH to be a little chubby, and actually Ortiz has been in better condition the last 2 seasons. Youk is too fat. Jenks is a cow who never got off his couch in the offseason, during spring training or the regular season. Drew is as soft as they come. He just disappeared off the face of the earth. Lackey is trimmed down this season, but his conditioning stinks. As good as AGon is, he needs to drop some weight or he'll be getting nagging injuries in a year or two. Lowrie is a physical wreck, and I am still trying to figure out how you break your back from pitching. Crawford was almost never injured with Tampa, but he pulled a hamstring in his first year here. There definitely is something wrong with the conditioning program. The real problem is that none of the starting pitchers are conditioned to go deep in games-- none of them. A quality start for the Sox needs to get downgraded to 5 innings, 7 runs. It's a joke.
  4. Expectation-wise, this is the bigger collapse. Everyone was assuming a playoff birth from spring training. I am not sure whether the 2007 Mets lost more games in the standings in September than the 2011 Red Sox. That's a close call.
  5. Tito will be gone and Theo will probably get 1 year to right the ship, or maybe they clean house/
  6. But I love my big brothers.
  7. Wow, Hellickson has given up only 2 hits and he is only tied.
  8. This had nothing to do with luck. Lester s*** the bed in his last 2 starts and lost. Papelbon gave it up last night and Beckett gave it up tonight. We lost 4 key games with our best guys. No excuses.
  9. It's the biggest in Red Sox history by far. I've seen nothing close in 45 years.
  10. Nothing is impossible, but in reality, we have nothing to throw at the Yankees this weekend... nothing. It's pathetic.
  11. Be thankful that you are an optimist. I have been feeling this despair for more than 2 weeks.
  12. Maybe tonight Tito tells us that this will make the champagne taste even sweeter. If he says that, I'm done with baseball for 2011, because that will signal the end to me.
  13. This an unprecedented collapse. It is worse than anything that I have witnessed in 45 years of rooting for the Sox. For those of you who thought being a Sox fan before 2004 was tough, I can tell you that this will be the worst collapse ever, by far.
  14. The day started so great, but it looks like the end will be very bad.
  15. Did people think we liked realizing that they sucked it hard and saw this coming after the first few games this month? We tried to prepare them, and now they are emotionally crashing. I did my puking during the first Tampa series.
  16. There will be at least 4 pitching changes by Buck to finish this game.
  17. It is very painful, but it finishes a distant 4th as the worse thing to happen in my life in 2011. They didn't want it bad enough.
