  1. E1 will never answer your question. Like a politician he answers his own question which is totally different.
  2. Of course you would. But I don't remember Papelbon blowing the save in the 7th game of a World Series or a deciding game of an ALCS against his teams arch rival. Rivera is great, but papelbon is pretty great in his own right. IOrtiz's point is that Papelbon has more road ahead of him than Mo does.
  3. The contract he got was very reasonable and it would have taken him to the creaky old age of 34. Tell me this E1, where are we going to find a lock down 8th inning guy like Bard? Answer, we will not. Add to that the fact that Bard may not have the necessary closer mentality and you might very well have weakened the team in the 8th and 9th innings. You like stats. Check the stats for the Sox for games when they were ahead going into the 8th inning. Until Bard and Papelbon melted down at the tail end of their seasons, the record was phenomenal. That 8th and 9th inning stability will be substantially eroded and that will have a cascading effect to an already weak remainder of the bullpen.
  4. Ben the Boob obviously had no interest in making an offer to Papelbon, probably because the Sox are so deep in talent that they just need some fine tuning.
  5. There are a lot of good things going on with this team. We are just this far from being a prominent team. Holds thumb and forefinger an inch apart.
  6. This just made me shudder with fear. If the Yanks scoop up 1 or 2 starters and Beltran, we would be in for a very long season.
  7. What some people are not grasping here is that it is irrelevant how Bard performs in the closer's role in 2012. If he gets 50 saves with a 0.50 ERA, it will not vindicate Ben the Boob. It's not like losing Papelbon will give Bard the opportunity to pitch. It will only change his inning. If the new 8th inning guy doesn't do as well as Bard, the late inning performance of the Pen will be very negatively.

  9. What will not be funny will be if the GM turns out to have made the wrong decision in both cases. I don't remember a lot of people moaning and complaining when Crawford got signed. There really wasn't a lot of griping about it. People started griping about it when it was painfully obvious that he was performing well below his career standards.
  10. So it is a better bet to give a 3 year contract to a 34 year old than a 4 year contract to a 30 year old. I'm not seeing the logicm
  11. Thank you.
  12. Thanks. Things are going better lately. That's life. It's hard sometimes.
  13. Some of us here have understood that all along. These people are idiots if they think they can go replace him. It's not going to happen.
  14. That was fast!
  15. KRod's K's are down a lot since 2007-- almost 2 per 9 innings. His WHIP since 2007 has been horrendous too.
  16. Thank god that Pepcid Complete is back in production. It was out of production for several months.
