  1. So the theory is that the any group of 25 players each making $8 million, the team should rock for a measly sum of $200 million.
  2. Welcome to TalkSox.
  3. I am an old Sox fan, and this season was the worst thing that I have witnessed. They were completely inept for an entire month. The worst ever without a close second.
  4. An article or blurb about Prince Fielder and shrinking just caught my eye.
  5. Word has been circulating that Ben C has been hitting the raw bar hard at Winter Meetings.
  6. Agreed. It's a damn shame. They knew that he didn't have much time left. The Old Timers committee had the opportunity to admit him in his final days, but they didn't
  7. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/12/ron-santo-elected-to-hall-of-fame.html He was the best third baseman in the NL for several years. His accomplishments are magnified by the fact that he was a diabetic in an age when the medical technology to control and manage the disease was not very advanced.
  8. I am trying to understand the symbolism of the 1 day contract. I'm not criticizing you. Nomar and others have done this 1 day contract thing, but I just don't get it. Ten years from now people will look at Pedro's stats and see that he pitched his last game in the World Series for the Phillies. Bobby V talked about rooming with Tony C in the Padres organization attempting a comeback in Spring Training. I have no recollection of that and I can't find anything linking him to the Padres. Technically, I guess he retired as a Padre, but who would know. It would be meaningful if Pedro or Nomar for example took an AB or pitched to a batter while playing for the Sox the way Minnie Minosa took some token ABs to have played in a couple of additional decades. It would give the fans one last chance to say goodbye and it would be in the record books.
  9. ... And I never said anything that would even approach this ^. I am used to you misconstruing my posts, but this is a big stretch even for you.
  10. That would be unbelievable if they landed Reyes and Pujols.
  11. Another blow to the Mets franchise which continues to deteriorate. They have been losing a substantial segment of their fan base over the last several years. It all started with their 2007 collapse.
  12. It looks that way. The history of the Marlins has been a very strange one. In their short history they have won 2 World Championships with powerhouse teams that were immediately dismantled in shameful fashion. Maybe the new stadium and the restructured roster will breathe new life into the franchise.
  13. It looks like the marlins are serious about getting him. I believe their initial offer to Reyes was 6/$90 million.
  14. That's a $200 million payroll of mediocrity.
  15. Dominating stuff but his elbow is hanging by a thread.
  16. No one is saying this. We are all waiting to see what they do. You are very cranky today.
  17. I don't recall Papelbon having any trouble with Texeira.:dunno:
