    I think the players' agents just keep throwing our name out there trying to drive up the price for other teams. I think we are just getting used. Have there been any reports of Ben and LL meeting with either of these pitchers? If you want these guys, you sit down with them and try to get their name on a contract. I don't think the Sox want either of them. They are not acting like they are interested, unless this stuff has been top secret. Nolan Ryan met with Oswalt and Oswalt's wife. That's what happens when a team is interested.

    If Boras had any decent multi-year offers, Jackson would have signed. You can't believe anything you read about a Boras client. If the Sox are out, who are these other teams clamoring for his services?

    Like i said, he wasn't exactly Yaz down the stretch. If he had a couple of key hits in some of those games, maybe we'd be hoisting a banner in April. Please don't take it as it was an it AGon's fault post. The fact is in that stretch, no one stepped up. They all failed and it wasn't just the pitchers that stunk in those last 15 games. It was a group non-effort.

    They are really being ridiculous this offseason. I don't know if you have ever sold a car privately. People come to your house, test drive the car and then offer you something ridiculously low. You'd get more money for the car if you put a match to it. They waste your time. Ben's wasting his time this offseason.

    The worst of all outcomes is that he wins the hearing for $16.5 million and then pouts because they criticized him.

    I understand what you are saying about retyping. I get it. But, I really don't care about anything he has to say. BTW: The comment about him choking was a tangential comment made when I was making an entirely different point. If UN is going to comment on the tangential stuff without addressing the main point, he should at least be right about it. If you saw the stats I posted about AGon's performance in 7 games against that Rays and Yanks at the end, he did really bad. In fact in the last 4 series of the season, he hit well only in the home series against Baltimore. In the other 11 games, he had 2 RBI total, i.e he choked.

    BTW: In the last series against the Rays and the Yankees in that final stretch, AGon went 0 for the Rays (12 ABs) with 1 RBI in 4 games (all losses) and 2 for 12 against the Yankees with 1 RBI. Not exactly Yaz in 1967 during a pitching dominated era.

    The whole choking comment was not the point of my post. It was just residual bitterness over the collapse. The point was that AGon's contract is not that much better than Tex's and Tex didn't cost the organization's top pitcher and hitter too.

    That's not the question you should be asking. The Red Sox have turned Fenway into a huge money making enterprise. The generate a ton of tax revenues, and they are just one enterprise in Boston. The question we should ask is how the does government makes all of that revenue disappear? And what do you get for it as a resident of Boston?

    This would make no sense. I don't know how this story got started, but I have seen other blurbs about the Sox being in the market for a full time SS. Scutaro was a full time SS. If they weren't sure that they could cover SS internally, why the heck would the dump Scutaro. Was there an issue between Scutaro and Bobby V.
