I find it both amusing and aggravating that the Dodgers, who were in such disarray a year ago that they were under close supervision of the Commissioner's office, are in first place and they are adding a Superstar player and looking to add to their rotation. The Red Sox, one of the premier franchises in the sport, are in last place and can't or won't add any talent to their team or make any big roster moves. I thought it was the Dodgers that were supposed to be the dysfunctional ownership group. Maybe the Red Sox should request that the commissioner be our conservator to get us back on track.

Our team stinks. They have shown themselves to be completely incapable of going on any sustained run, hence the .500 record. I am sure that someone will post some meaningless stat to show that we are better than our record-- maybe we have the best record in Tuesday night games in all of baseball, but it is a mediocre team at best with the heart of a loser. I agree. The FO is full of excuses. They whine about injuries and get their mouthpieces on radio to take up the cause until the fans start drinking the damn Kool Aid. Our offense is where we have had injuries. Yet, we lead the league in runs scored, so the injuries haven't hurt us in that regard. It has been the pitching that has been the problem since day 1. The pitching has not been the victim of injuries. From day 1 it was an obvious problem, but Bobby V and Cherries made one statement after another that they were happy with our pitching. They were either being deliberately misleading or incompetent. Take your pick. The Yankees have been bitten with the injury bug too. They have had some major injuries, but yet they are chugging along and rolling over the competition. The difference in the organizations is obvious. The Red Sox suffer serious injuries to the outfield and they address the issue with Marlon Byrd, Darnel McDonald, Daniel Nava and other assorted cast offs. Some of them, most notably Nava have done an admirable job. The Yankees address their OF issue by getting Ichiro for no financial cost and little in the way of prospects. One organization is committed to winning. The other is committed to selling bricks and revenue streams.

I heard that Hamels signed an extension with the Phillies. That takes that pipe dream off the table. So many people were unconcerned when we added no pitching this off season, because they felt confident that we would land Cain or Hamels. Well, they are both off the table. Greinke is left. There are no aces available as FA's this off season other than Greinke. They missed the boat in not getting Gio Gonzalez. There will be no bold moves by Cherries at the deadline this season. There will be no ace added to the staff and HanRam went to te Dodgers. It will be essentially the same team to finish the season. As a sports talk guy in NY says: You can lock that up.
