  1. The whole undertaking with the new stadium etc. was a tremendous mistake.
  2. Mauer is a great hitter. He would hit .360 at Fenway with about 20 HRs. I have watched him since he was a kid at Twins Spring Camp in Ft. Myers. He has always been an exceptional hitter. In our lineup with the Monster in LF he would be great.
  3. Are you hearing or reading anything in your local media about the Marlins lokking to move Reyes? They seem to be in salary dump mode. He'd be a nice pickup for the Sox. Also, I have read that they are looking to dump Buehrle. He is very consistent and reliable.
  4. Zach Stewart pitches for the Red Sox tonight. He announced his game plan-- to throw strikes early, not do too much and let the hitters get themselves out. If the Angels heard the interview, they will be aggressively swinging early in the count. I have never seen this guy pitch, but I will be surprised if he makes it past the 4th inning.
  5. Where in my post did I argue about throwing big money at players? As to your point about Aceves being in a role that he shouldn't be in, I am not sure that I understand your point. Aceves did not want to be a middle reliever this year. He wanted to start, because middle relievers don't make a lot of money--- starters and closers make money. He missed out on being a starter out of spring training and he was very upset. He wanted and embraced the closer role. Unfortunately, he sucks at, so yeah we can s*** on him, especially with his egotistical attitude. The FO should have had a better back up plan for the injury-prone Bailey. They should be s*** on too.
  6. I agree. We have a terrific opportunity to build a strong competitve team for 2013, and the FO knows that there is a sense of urgency to win. They have seen the ugliness of persistent losing. It is damaging the franchise. They are not planning on another bridge year. As for Farrell, I don't undertand the enthusiasm to hir him as the manager. He has not achieved anything in Toronto. He has his team run recklessly insituation that make no sense. I have seen nothing about him that impresses me.
  7. Going forward, they have to decide whether they can count on the injury-prone Bailey to be the closer. This is what the end of games look like when you don't have a good back of the bullpen. We had a great on for 3 years and it spoiled us. We let our closer walk and we converted our 8th inning guy into a starter and ruined his career. People convinced themselves that anyone could fill those roles. We have one of the worst kate inning pens in baseball. I knew the late innings would be a horror show this year. I am not willing to put all my closer eggs into Bailey who has pitched more than 40 innings only once or twice. They have a ton of freed up money now, so they should shore up the pen with a solid late inning guy or another closer. It's water under the bridge, but the late inning pen from last year would at least have this team in a competitve positiion this year. Meaningless games starting in August suck.
  8. 8th blown Save for this piece of garbage and we're not even in September. Two hours of lost sleep to see the same old ending.
  9. f*** you Aceves. Nice blown save.
  10. This ******* is going to choke away another game. He just blows up time after time.
  11. He did look at it like there was a hole in it.
  12. Salty swings and misses more than any one on the team.
  13. Loney worked that AB. I didn't know he had that kind of plate discipline. Salty will swing at the 1st pitch.
  14. Who pitches the 8th and the 9th?
  15. And he nonchalants the third out catching it one handed.
  16. The Kalish play means that Buch has to face Pujols with 2 out and the tying run on second base.
  17. Did Kalish botch that play. Goodness!!! What an amateurish play. Should have been an out. He broke back letting the ball fall in and then he overran the ball letting Trout go to second base.
  18. Iglesias and Kalish are black holes tonight.
  19. We struggle against every team.
  20. Zach Stewart starting for the Red Sox tomorrow against the Angels.
  21. He looks terrible in every AB. This is a weak-ass lineup putting up 4 runs against Weaver.
  22. Not only can't we hand him a starting OF position next season. He may not be ready to be a 4th OFer.
  23. Mike Port was the interim GM between Duquette (fired March 2002) and Theo (hired November 2002)
  24. It's worth noting that Lester and Delcarmen were not drafted by Theo.
  25. I don't mind listening to Sterling when the Yankees are losing. He's actually quite comical when they are losing as he searches for the lamest excuses possible. There's a huge difference between Sterling and Hawk. Sterling is a radio announcer who rambles on about everything except the game, and he apparently has poor vision because his attempts at calling the game are not even a close approximation of what is going on on the field. Hawk is on TV and still does a better job of calling the game. Plus, Hawk has some good player stories. There's no comparison between the two. This is just my opinion. I would not give him any awards for announcing, but I find no reason to loathe him. Yeah he is a homer, but so what. They are all homers.
