This is definitely a highlight for the young 2013 season:

I was referring to pitching depth. That is where we have a problem. We will have to disagree about Napoli being a cleanup hitter.
  3. a700hitter
They need Ortiz in the lineup. Napoli is not a a cleanup hitter for a competitive team. The pitching holds the key to this team. They need to perform and stay healthy. There is no depth behind them. We haven't had our starters stay healthy since 2004 so it is a long shot IMO that we will not have to look for replacement(s) along the way for extended periods.

The Yankees have priced out the average fan. The expensive seats are sold, but they come with access to restaurants and bars etc, so in bad weather games those fans don't go to the seats. As for Benny Boys performance, it is way too early to come to a judgment.

They all have to figure it out at least enough to stay in the majors. Pedey seems to think that Iggy's superior hand eye coordination will result in him being a good ML hitter. That is far from a slam dunk.

The weather is going to be pretty cold in NY the next couple of days. Tomorrow's projected high temperature is 47 degrees. It should be pretty frigid at game time.
  7. a700hitter
Yes, that was missing last year. I saw Ortiz in the dugout yesterday. Has he started running yet? What is the timetable for his return?
  8. a700hitter
In interviews, Pedey has said that he has told Iggy that with his superior hand eye coordination that there is no way he shouldn't be able to hit. I guess Pedey never heard of all the good glove no stick Shortstops like Mark Belanger, Dal Maxvill, etc.

It has been a long time since I have seen such a punchless Yankee lineup. I hope they get buried deep in the standings right from the start.
  10. a700hitter
    It's a beautiful sight.
  11. a700hitter
Cue Dirty Water in Boston. The Red Sox win!!!!
  12. a700hitter
We're going to go with 5 relievers on opening day.
  13. a700hitter
Bradley continues showing good plate discipline.
  14. a700hitter
Nice turn by Tazawa on the inning ending DP. Too many pitchers give the SS a lousy feed. That throw was right on the money.
  15. a700hitter
    3 IF hits by IGGY.
  16. a700hitter
Even during ST, he looked markedly better from the right side of the plate.
  17. a700hitter
Lester's pace slowed significantly in that last inning and his effectiveness declined correspondingly.
  18. a700hitter
Iggy batting 1.000 after the bunt.
  19. a700hitter
There's no way Gomes or Nava get that ball. They don't even come close.
  20. a700hitter
Cervelli stinks. The yankees are kidding themselves with that bum.
  21. a700hitter
4-0-- Another hit by Pedroia. This is not the CC that I remember. He doesn't look good right now.
  22. a700hitter
He has excellent splits from the RH side of the plate. I remember seeing him hit a Grand Slam against Johan when no one hit Johan.
  23. a700hitter
That would have been a long shot.
  24. a700hitter
THe fielder had no play at any base. Why not a hit?
  25. a700hitter
And when he does swing, he swings very aggressively. He's no slap hitter.
