  1. We are back in control of our own destiny.
  2. Evaluating and developing pitching talent is Theo's achilles heel. To paraphrase Bob Gibson, the only thing Theo knows about pitching is that he can't hit it.
  3. That's too bad. He is a special pitcher. I hope that he makes a full recovery.
  4. Yep, and I think managers over think a lot of stuff to no great end. There is the 1 inning closer position that everyone has incorporated into their teams. I think that is nonsense too. LaRussa batting his pitchers in the 8th hole was nothing more than idiosyncratic foolishness. The overusage of the shift in today's game does little to prevent runs. I could go on and on.
  5. You are on my ignore list, but I am assuming that this ^ is about reclaiming first place that I have held for several weeks while you disappeared from the forum. Kudos on recaliming the top spot.
  6. I think it is over-hyped as a strategy and that it factors little into run production if at all.
  7. Put your best hitters up at the top of the lineup in a row-- that's the simple formula. Lefty - Rghty and extending the order by putting a lesser hitter in the middle of your good guys is just a bunch of hooey.
  8. He looked pretty smooth in the field too. He'd have to get very large for me to want to pull him off SS. In the meantime, his plate discipline and plate coverage looks much better than Middlebrooks. I'd play him over Middlebrooks.
  9. They are heading for around 95 losses in year 2 of Theo's 3-5 year plan. Thank goodness we got rid of that clueless bastard. There is barely anyone worth watching on that team. Edit: Their home attendance is down around 4,000 fans per game.
  10. It was very interesting that Schilling said that it would take 10 minutes to explain what goes through pitchers mind in 10 seconds before a pitch.
  11. I went to school with some of them.
  12. The kid has a nice swing.
  13. f*** him and the whining loser AGon.
  14. Blasphemer!! In my long life, and some people here think I voted for Lincoln, we have won nothing without Big Schill. He was money for us, put his career in jeopardy pitching on that ankle, and brought home two championships for us. The man knows pitching and I enjoyed listening to his insights tonight.
  15. That's cause I am surrounded by too many *******s. it wears on you.
  16. What a beautifully pitched game by Peavy. This was a big game. We keep on rolling. Four out of six on a west coast trip is excellent. I'll take it every day.
  17. I am younger than both of you old farts. I'm only 54.
  18. If he didn't look out in real time or slow motion, how did we catch a break if the umps made the right call?
  19. last Sunday, the ESPN crew reported that Farrell had said that he would try to get Ortiz in 3 of the 6 west coast games. I found it incredulous that he would sit the centerpiece of the lineup for 3 games. ESPN's report turned out to be accurate, and I remain incredulous.
  20. BTW Youk, just for the record my thumbs up was for your post. It wasn't meant to be a vote (we don't get a vote) on your ultimate decision regarding your decision on the matter. LOL!! Just want to clarify that.
  21. Thumbs up, and I hate to do thumbs up.
  22. Thanks Yanks. We need Tampa to cool off a bit.
  23. Yeah, now I guess that your team will roll over like pigs when they play the Rays or the O's.
  24. No help from the Skanks.
