I don't have you on ignore. We have been coexisting, because I thought you had me on ignore, so I almost never reply to your posts. Let's continue with that, since it has been working so well.
Our medical staff has always been an operation of quacks. The worst example that I can remember was many years ago with Tim Naehring. I believe that he had hyperextended his elbow so they needed to tighten up a ligament and re-route a nerve. It was viewed as routine and he was supposed to be as good as new for Spring Training. He showed up for Spring Training and he could not straighten his arm. He couldn't throw or hit with his crooked arm. He could never regain enough flexsibility to straighten his arm. His promising career was over.
None is the type of weapon that Ellsbury is. They are situational base stealers for the most part-- they take advantages of lapses by the pitchers. Ellsbury was a guy that the pitchers knew would be stealing and they still could not stop him -- not even with a pitchout. Yes, Victorino and Pedroia can steal bases, but they can't win showdowns with the oppositions pitchers and catchers like Ells could. As for JBJ, I don't know if he can steal bases effectively.
You have a good birthday. My son has a good birthday too. On his 19th birthday, we attended the parade for the 2004 Champions and on his 28th birthday the Red Sox beat the Cards at Fenway for the Championship. My birthday is in January and the last memorable thing to happen on my birthday was the Colts winning Super Bowl V against the Cowboys on Jim O'Brien's last second field goal. That was pretty cool since Johnny Unitas was an idol of mine as a kid. He was tough as nails.
The guy also had a chronically bad elbow that should have been closely examined. And they paid something like $24 million more than his next highest offer. I will mea culpa that I wanted to get the guy, but I did not want to overpay him to the point of payroll gridlock and take him with a known physical condition.
2014 will be Theo's third year. I would expect a .500 record by year 3. If he can't manage that, IMO his plan is not on track. Also, the Cubs very loyal fan base has been going to the park less often, down 400,000 from 2011.
There is no schtick. The fact s are that Epstein has never proved that he can build anything from the ground up. He came to a Boston team loade with young stars on the cusp of becoming a powerhouse. He put on the last few brick to finish the job, and he deserves credit for that. He also took the powerhouse and once he had autonomy he deconstructed the powerhouse and left it decimated.
He is getting his first real chance at building something from the ground up in Chicago. He is entering his third year. I'd expect at least a .500 record in 2014 if his plan is on track.
I am glad that we have Cherries who found a way to build a Championship team 1 year after inheriting a team and orgnization in disarray.
Put him on ignore and let him pick his fights with someone else. Let me get this straight, he has his underwear tied in knots because you kidded him that he must be independently wealthy because he is on the internet all day. That should tell you that he just looking for a fight. Answer him with silence. Anything he adds on the baseball side of the ledger is undone by all the fighting. Engaging with him is not worth it when he has it in for you.
