  1. Very intriguing move. I like it. Okay, cue the stupid "low risk high reward" assessments. LOL!!
  2. I don't understand the Sox fans who take glee in the Yankees overpaying for a player. It doesn't stop themfrom spending and they still got the player.
  3. They need CC to bounce back. That is their key, and they have to pray that Kuroda has something left, but I would much rather have Tanaka than old man Pettitte. That is a big upgrade.
  4. This is a nice pickup by the Yankees. They have made a number of nice pickups this offseason: McCann, Ells, Beltran, and Tanaka. We can debate these moves, but I judge them on whether or not I wanted the Skanks to get these guys. The answer in all 4 cases is no. I didn't want to see any of these guys wearing pinstripes. I would be excited for the season if I were a Skank fan.
  5. If CC regains his form, that is a very solid 4 guys. They'll need to pick up a Dempster-like pig to eat innings in the 5th spot.
  6. I think the Yankees signing Drew is being held up by Drew's reluctance to change position. There is no way that jeter will slide over for him. The Yankees will have to blow away the market to get Drew to play 3rd.
  7. Maybe the next Irabu.
  8. He's such an *******. LOL!!! I have him on ignore, so I don't care what he says. Unfortunately, I have to see his contentious garbage when he is quoted. But I get it. He hates Papelbon who helped us win a Championship and who was a consistent excellent performer for us, but he has Theo's ballsack in his mouth despite the fact that Theo left us a last place franchise in disarray and financially strangulated with his foolish deals. To each his own.
  9. I'd stand in line to get Pedro's autograph, but not for Theo's. That's just me. I root for and admire the players who IMO have super-human skills just to get to that level. Pedro is a whole different level of other-worldliness. FO guys are just pencil pushers and hot air. In my world, they are a dime a dozen. But hey, if you want to hang a poster of Theo in your office, go for it. The trainers help the players a lot too, but I couldn't even bother to know their names.
  10. The players perform.
  11. He had one of the best seasons of any closer in history.
  12. I wonder which memorabilia sells better: Papelbon or Epstein? LOL! People don't give a s*** about FO personnel.
  13. Amazing that people feel the need to deep throat former Sox FO guys. Who cares about them one way or another?
  14. The Shark is at a crossroads. It's time for him to translate his potential into performance. He was terrible last season-- a flop.
  15. He had a series of concussions. Sometimes it just takes one concussion to end a baseball career. Look up Corey Koskie.
  16. He was adjusting to a cavernous ballpark that had him completely psyched out. They have since brought in the fences. However, without the series of concussions, he may well have adjusted and played well the final two months and the shortened fences would have helped him in subsequent years. The concussions derailed his career. There was nothing else physically wrong with the guy and he was not yet losing a battle with age.
  17. His first concussion was in his first season with the Mets causing him to shut down his season in July.
  18. In Baseball's attempt to clean up the game and rid itself of the stigma of PEDs has managed to give itself another black eye. I think it has become evident that its testing program is a farce that can be easily circumvented. As Pinstripe said, a bunch of guys just got suspended that had not failed the testing.
  19. What I read was that he didn't see a scenario under which he would return. That's a little different than just saying "I'm done." His statement can be interpreted as saying that for the right offer (i.e., any offer) he might consider it. That aside, if he is open to playing again, is he worth the invitation?
  20. Jason Bay has said that he will probably retire. Is he worth an invitation to camp to see if he has anything left. And consider him as a righty platoon option?
  21. Bobby Jenks would like to return to baseball. After the guy ate, drank and drugged his way out of a lucrative career where he made $8 million for 60 innings of work, he should just stay away. Maybe he could body double for John Kruk.
  22. Have those threats been verified, or is it just the word of Bosch?
  23. There are almost no options available on FA market for right handed OF platoon options. Delmon Young is one of the few that is still available, but we need someone who can play RF. Gomes is the righty option for left field.
  24. He can appeal this decision to Federal Court. I guess that it is possible that he could get an injunction while the Federal Court is considering the appeal. He probably has 60 days to appeal the decision which would bring the timeline up to Spring Training. The Federal Court deliberation could spill over into the regular season. I hope that he gets an injunction and disrupts the Yankees Spring Training Camp.
