  3. No one has "acquired" Jones yet, they have just put in a claim for him. Whatever team it is, will still have to agree to a trade with the Braves, which will probably not happen. Very doubtful its the Sox who have claimed him. Id guess its either a NL team or the Angels. this gives a good explaination http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2006/08/which_team_was_.html
  4. ESPN's now confirming that it is Stern going to Baltimore
  5. I know its a long ways away, but if the Sox were to make the playoffs and play in October, who would you want on the 25 man roster. (Assuming Nixon, Varitek, Wake and Foulke are back healthy). Lineup 1. Youkilis—1B—R 2. Loretta—2B—R 3. Ortiz—DH—L 4. Ramirez—LF—R 5. Mo Pena—RF—R 6. Varitek—C—S 7. Lowell—3B—R 8. Gonzalez—SS—R 9. Crisp—CF—S Bench 1. Lopez—1B/C—R 2. Cora—INF—L 3. Kapler—OF—R 4. Mirabelli—C—R 5. Nixon—OF—L Rotation 1. Schilling—R 2. Beckett—R 3. Wakefield—R 4. Lester—L Bullpen 1. Papelbon 2. Timlin 3. Delcarmen 4. Seanez/Tavarez (whoever pitches the best till the end of september gets this spot) 5. Hansen 6. Lopez/Dinardo (hopefully we can pickup a better lefty option for the pen) 7. Snyder
  6. since when is Stern a switch hitter?
  7. Its most likely Stern, Machado or Alvarez thats going to Baltimore in return.
  8. Maddux went 6 innings not allowing a hit. His pitch count was only 72, why didnt he go longer??
  9. This will probably be Huckaby's first and last game as a Red Sox
  10. rotoworld Great move. Im guessing we take most of his contract and give up someone like Alvarez or Gabbard.
  11. Sounds like the Sox will only have to give up Abe Alvarez for Lopez.
  12. http://www.eagletribune.com/siteSearch/apstorysection/local_story_215064533 Jones has been placed on waivers
  13. I think we are starting to see the good side of the Arroyo-Pena trade. In July, Arroyo had an era of 5.45 in 5 starts. (He has an era of 6.00 in 1 start in August) To me it seems like his luck in the NL is starting to run out and he is returning to be the 4th/5th starter he is. While Willy Mo in his first 8 games of the DL has hit .364 with 8 hits (2 of them HR)
  14. anyone think we could possibly trade for Bard? MLB.com has him listed as the Padres third string catcher behind Piazza and Bowen. Maybe Seanez and Alvarez for him??
  15. speaking of Lowell, any news on his status after he left the game tonight?
  16. i wouldnt mind this guy http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/player.jsp?player_id=408036
  17. hahaha i was at the game to and was pretty much watching the bird more than the game. i was sitting almost right behind it the whole time
  18. Well its obvious that the Red Sox are very interest in Roger and most of the Astros FO agrees with moving him, except for Drayton McLane. If McLane changes his mind in a couple of weeks, any shot that the Sox could get Clemens through a waiver deal?
  19. According to Jayson Stark, the Astros were close to sending Roger to Boston http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=2535859 screw you Drayton McLane
  20. last time i went to a game, his song was London Calling by The Clash
  21. back in 2004 when he was i think 22 years old, he had an era of 2.98 with 239 K's. Id say thats an unbelievable.
  22. that was friggen hilarious. "Wang's the Brandon Webb of the AL"
  23. The price may have been high, but now we dont have a 4th or 5th starter till Wake comes back. Snyder has been alright so far, but i wouldnt expect him to stay that way. Wells is done pitching and Clement's out for the year. So, who do we turn to now as our 4th/5th starters? And not that Theo could have predicted this, but, if V-Tek has to go on the DL, we are SCREWED.
  24. this lineup in a few years could be very scary to Al East teams Lineup C—Navarro 1B—Guzman 2B—Cantu SS—Brignac 3B—Upton LF—Dukes CF—Crawford RF—Young DH—Gomes Bench Baldelli Bankston
  25. WEEI said Lester will most likely go tommorow
