  1. Unfortunately, the trade deadling couldnt be a week away. With the recent injuries to Nixon, MDC, Varitek, he could of used some more time to help find replacements for them. And from tonights game, its pretty clear that David Wells has nothing left. Im really shocked that he didnt go after another SP.
  2. wow that lineup is ridiculous, and having Craig Wilson come of the bench
  3. jayson stark say'd that most teams have stopped asking about Cory Lidle because they are pretty positive he's going to the Yankees. (Abreu may be involved to)
  4. olney just sayed on baseball tonight that this crazy 3 team trade may include the Padres and Mark Loretta
  5. I kinda like the idea of trading Coco for Buehrle. Then we could use WMP everday in CF, where his defense wasnt to bad.
  6. Dodgers acquired infielder Wilson Betemit from the Braves for RHP Danys Baez and infielder Willy Aybar. The upgrade from Aybar to Betemit is well worth two months of Baez, especially for a Dodgers team that seems further from contention with each passing day. Betemit will likely take over as the regular third baseman for the rest of the season. Cesar Izturis can move to second base as a replacement for Jeff Kent for now or become trade bait. Betemit should be a very good play in NL-only leagues while being used as a regular, and even if he switches positions next year, he'll be a fixture in the lineup for several seasons. 7. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/features/060302wbccuba3b.html wonder how much interest the Sox put into him. He plays 2nd and 3rd and i think would be a great pick up this offseason. A first-round talent whos only 21 years old.
  8. its official now Wilfrido Laureano goes to Philly in return
  9. There isn't that much of a drop off between Mench and Lee Mench (320 ab)--.284 avg./.338 obp./.459 slg./12 HR Lee (388 ab)--.286 avg./.347 obp./.549 slg./28 HR avg and obp are about the same, Lee just has more power. Cordero also gives them a nice late inning reliever and maybe closer.
  10. in other news, why havnt the Orioles accepted this deal yet http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5825796 Tejada for Santana and Aybar Baltimores FO has to get their heads out of their asses and realize they wont be competitve in the AL East for atleast a couple of years. If this is true, the Orioles should get this deal done as soon as possible.
  11. Brewers are also close to getting David Bell http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060728&content_id=1580362&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
  12. id move Hansen, Pedroia, Murphy and WMP for Cabrera. If somehow we were able to get him, maybe he could play RF? Then we could move Nixon for a pitcher.
  13. they dont have much to sell
  14. ill be pissed if we end up with Lugo. Gonzo's defense make Lugo look like a little leaguer. Lugo does have a very good bat though, and Theo might also be interested in him to drive up the price for the Jays.
  15. I think that might have to do with the Sox getting Freddy Garcia somehow. Jennings would make a great 4th/5th starter. Groundball pitcher with pretty good control and K ability.
  16. According to the Herald, the Sox have little interest in Cory Lidle, but are intrigued by Jon Lieber. Fortunately, no deal is close to happening because the Phillies are looking for either Lester or Hansen in return.
  17. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/otherMLB/view.bg?articleid=150123 theres something about Roger
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2530158 Celtics signed un-drafted free agent Kevin Pittsnogle to a 2 year deal. This guy reminds me of Raef Lafrentz.
  19. So was it sexual harassment or him getting into arguments with producers that got him fired?
  20. thats why im a little confused about this. Im thinking theyd use him in the 8th/7th inning this year and have him be the closer/setup guy next year depending on whether Paps is in the rotation or not.
  21. http://www.mlb4u.com/rumor.php?order=date&spec=DESC&mode=vote&voted=5&id=213 look at the first rumor Tom Gordon for Trot Nixon :dunno: what do ya think?
  22. every Sox is saying no now, but if you asked this question in January, every Red Sox fan would probably say yes and the Yankees fans would be the ones saying no.
  23. I almost did that, but Rivera does have 1 less blown save than Paps. I still think Paps is better than Rivera this year, but Rivera is still a pretty dominant closer
