No we don't Ells because we were NOT in an unwinnable battle with the Teixiera negotiations. The local Red Sox scout in my area who I know very well said John Henry got cold feet and became very upset when the Boras team asked for a couple of million more and decked in his heels. This was corroborated by another Red Sox scout from Northern California. We could have had Mark, pure and simple. It was only when Henry started balking and Lucchino started bullshitting did Boras start looking towards New York. Up until then the Yankees were not even in one the MT chase. But that's only part of it. They did sign him and they won the next season and anytime the Yankees win a WS it's like a massive s*** storm settling in the neighborhood.

Ask yourself this sk----who would you rather have in your lineup the next 50 games.......Middlebrooks or Bradley? I also don't think X is a delicate flower but assuming you played on a lot of baseball teams as I did and maybe coached some as I did, you know the mental part of the game can be devastating when it is turned in a negative way. All I know for sure is that we are not playing well, are giving up seven unanswered outs a game and are playing horse s*** baseball. We need to make a change to try and recoup some ground by July 4th because after that, if we are still in the same pickle, it is time to back up the truck and begin what may be a painful rebuilding process. Lucchino and Co. can't fool themselves and they should certainly not be allowed to fool us.

We'd be better only because Jacoby would get on base, steal a ton of bases and maybe we win some of those multitude of one-run and extra inning games that we have lost. It is true RRR that so far Ells has not had that great of a season but he looks like a Hall of Famer next to that pathetic guy who took his place.
-
Get something good for him in a trade???? Are you kidding me? We would have to pay some of his salary to get him off of our hands. Right now he has no trade value whatsoever. Again, he sucks!!!!!!!! He gives the opposition four outs a game and the way we're scoring we needs those outs preserved. You don't think Bogaerts was hurt by the move..fine, your opinion. I happen to think he was hurt. His miserable play since then is proof to me that the move was a bad one. The problem now IMHO is for the Red Sox to bite the bullet, admit they were wrong and send Drew home. Release him and see if some o ther team will pick him up. I'd bet he would have a hard time catching on just as he did this whole off season until the Sox got a diahierra and signed him (sic).

Welcome aboard. I noticed that you live in the better part of Connecticut.....if you get my drift.
-
Great point----and it could happen. Remember Damon? Remember Teixiera? Remember Ellsbury? Prediction.....if the Yankees don't at least win the American League flag this season they will spend like you've never seen before. Don't laugh. It was Red Sox fans and front office being caught with their pants down that we lost Damon and then blew the Teixiera signing all to hell. AND AFTER THE LATTER THE YANKEES WENT ON TO WIN THE WS IN 2009. Is that what we want???????

And he stopped hitting as soon as Drew was installed against all types of pitching. Was Bogaerts in a 5 for 51 run before Drew came aboard. For God's sake Spud, Drew is hitting 139, struck out three more times last night and has contributed nothing. Hell even Herrera as bad as he is makes a better effort for us than Stephen. Drew has to go.
-
Signing yes, but since Drew was installed at short and Bogaerts moved to third his average has cratered from 305 to 260, has not fielded well and right now is in a 5 for 51 funk. Remember Bard? We may have another such type on our hands with position player this time, and remember this....WE SIMPLY CANNOT GIVE AWAY SEVEN OR EIGHT OUTS A GAME, and that is exactly what we're doing with Drew and Bradley at the bottom of the order. Last night our "Big Three" got two hits apiece, and, yes, sure, Lackey had an off night and it made no difference but it shows that unless Nap, Pedey and Papi get some help this team is doomed. And to be sure, why do you keep defending Drew? Can't you see for yourself that overall he is a deep minus for the team? In fact he sucks!!!!!!!!
-
You mean CRapuano don't you? When you get Dodger rejects this is what you can expect. Still it doesn't all fall on the guy any more than it does on Drew and Bradley, both with Ofers tonight, Drew down to 146 and sinking like a house on a sinkhole. Lackey had a bad night against a weak hitting team so this game was lost no matter who we played, but understand my friend, this team is going to have to swallow hard and do three things that are absolutely mandatory if they want to properly build for the future since if appears this season may be lost. One we have to return Bogaerts to short and get the weak and bumbling hitting Drew the hell out of the lineup once and for all. Trade him, release him, maybe make him a utility man but get him out of there. I think it is obvious to all but a few stubborn diehards that his signing was a debacle. Bogey back at short and when Middlebrooks is ready put him on third and show the patience in him that they have shown in Bradley. As for Bradley, get him the hell out of CF and the lineup, send him down to Pawtucket where he should have been all along and bring up Mookie Betts. Drew out, Bogaerts back at short with WMB at third and Betts in CF and we start to rebuild the team or the future. Tonight might just have been a wakeup call for all of us. Check that.....DREW 0 FOR 4 WITH THREE STIKEOUTS AND DOWN TO 143. GREAT SIGNING CHERINGTON. Now do the right thing and sit the guy down....PERMANENTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
sk---You have a lot of confidence in Bradley and that's fine with me if that's your opinion. I just don't happen to agree with it. In fact, when promoted to AA and AAA he never got above 270, didn't steal many bases and never learned to try to bunt for base hits. Personally, and this is only MY opinion, he is never going to be that good a hitter that we can carry in the lineup. He has a slow bat, cannot get around on a good fastball and looks all twisted up at the plate. We are never going to he a championship contender with him in the lineup. My take is to bring up Mookie Betts, install him in CF and get some much needed speed into the lineup---as well as a helluva lot better hitter. And, oh yes, get that damn Drew out of the lineup once and for all. 0 for 3 again tonight, hitting now 146 and sinking fast. I've said it before, will say it again and again until the guy is gone......his signing was a total mistake and it has done nothing but set us back and maybe evaporate much of Bogaerts confidence since he hasn't been worth s*** either offensively or on defense since that move was made.
-
There were a few of us who believed that Ellsbury might be worth signing but we knew the price would be prohibitive, plus the fact that a lot of us bought into the front office's mindset that Jackie Bradley would be an adequate replacement. No, not in speed, not even close, but very few of us thought that Jackie would be so inept with the bat, and because he lacked top notch speed he couldn't be a good drag bunter or a base stealer. When he failed so miserably to hit it just made his other lack of skill even worse. Fair being fair, there was not a great hue and cry that the team resign Jacoby when the season ended last year. We were the champions and felt omnipotent. Now we are seeing that maybe there should have been an alternate game plan in case Bradley imploded, which he did. But there was no plan. There is Mookie Betts and he might be the cure for our losing Ells because it is more prevalent every day that Jackie Bradley isn't it.

Up in Seattle now are the Red Sox after their disappointing and frustrating failure in Oakland. Time to settle in and finally start playing like the Red Sox instead of those frauds we've been watching since Opening Day. Tonight the Sox go up against one of the best pitchers in the game in Felix Hernandez, 8-2 and a 2.22 ERA---outstanding stats. Funny thing, though. In his last three starts he has one loss and two No D's. The Mariners seem as stingy as scoring runs for him as ours do for our pitcher. John Lackey goes for us and so far no one should have any gripes or groans about how he's performed Last time out he went nine innings against the Twin, struck out nine and gave up only three hits.......and only got "nice going, good job" no decision. Jon is 8-4 with a 2.96 ERA and has been a solid pitcher for us this season. The difference between the two teams is that Seattle is 40-36 while we're 35-41. Perhaps the Mariners can do better, but we certainly should and we haven't. Maybe it's time for the Red Sox to show why they captivated and conquered the baseball world just a year ago. We're all wondering where that magic went. Perhaps we can finally start to move the needle this week.

We paid $39 million for three years of Victorino and we look like we're going to get one year at full health from him. Know what? I think it will be worth it from a fan's standpoint because I don't think we would have gone all the way last season without Shane. He has a very solid year, was a leader on the field and especially in the clubhouse, he hit and fielded so well he won a Gold Glove. The sad fact Ted is that it looks like his body is getting the best of him. I can't say I'm surprised because Vic always left it all out on the field and never gave an inch. It is possible he could fully recover and have a solid year in 2015, giving us two for three from him but I'm kind of doubting it to tell you the truth. Too many things are breaking down in his body and, besides, a good team covers for one or two injured players and picks up their game. We have yet to do that and we must if we are going to start climbing in the standings.

Well if we can finish this road trip with something better than we got in Oakland I will start believing again, but I will agree completely on one point. Pedroioa, Ortiz and Napoli have got to hit a lot better than they have. They're certainly capable but we need to see them put up consistent numbers and it would be nice to see Bogaerts and Nava get real hot as well.
-
I don't know if you're being caustic or not Pal but if you're not please tell me why you think we are still in this? You have some inside information that we're ready to pull a big trade? That we are going to bite hard and bench Drew and eventually get rid of him? That we are going to finally realize Bradley and hitting consistently is fool's errand and an oxymoron. Or maybe that finally at long last Ortiz, Pedroia, Napoli and Bogaerts are all going to finally start hitting like they're supposed to? Whatever it is, let all of us in on the secret.

You noticed heh NB? Farrell has managed this season with his head halfway up his rectum and continues to keep making the same mistakes. Kind of reminds me some other guy who made a habit of doing the same thing in his later Red Sox years but he seems to have outgrown that and has become a good manager again. Farrell, OTOH, well, you already know.

Just got back home fifteen minutes ago. When I left we were ahead something like 5-1. Glad I didn't stick around to see us stumble. Linda and I went to see The Beach Boys in concert. It turned out to be a great Sunday afternoon and evening after all. The Beach Boys, a Red Sox win, some quality time with my soul mate and no Drew in the lineup. Now if the Mariners toss a RH at us tomorrow Drew I fine. If it's a lefty no can do bobaloo.

I love that avatar mvp. I wonder if you could transfer that one somehow to me so I could have it. It shows me pointing at the "N" Train in Brooklyn, which happens to be the Sea Beach train from which I got my handle. I will even promise to apologize to VA if you do. Hell, I'm going to do it anyway. I was out of line probably because I have been so pissed off the past three days at our team's ineptness. Not a good excuse but it's the best this flawed human can do.
-
Absolutely none is right Pal except for politics and favoritism. The front office has been playing up Bucky and Doobie Doobie do for the past few years and it seems they have a hard time admitting a mistake. Get their asses punched and out of Boston. I was a severe critic of De La Rosa last season but he has won me over. He looks like a real find for us and Workman has earned a spot. Just because he has options shouldn't mean s***. You try to win and if that's not the case Cherington and Farrell should get the hell out of Dodge.

6/19 Sox at The Oakland Dump

Bellhorn, were we facing a left hander in any of those games? To my recollection we were not. Drew was penciled in that lineup both Friday and Saturday against southpaw pitchers of whom he hit only 196 against them last season----and he has a partial ST and was able to gain his timing when returned from the DL---AND HE STILL COULDN'T HIT THEM WORTH s***. No way no how should he ever be in the starting lineup against a lefty----and, of course, I reluctantly have to go along with him in there when a righty throws. -
John Lester takes his 8-7, and 3.20 ERA into action today against Athletics lefthander Tommy Milone, 5-3 and a 3.56 ERA. This is certainly no sure thing but I have a feeling we can win this one today for obvious reasons, and it does get another RH bat of facsimile in the lineup and one useless left handed one out. Frankly, I look to the day when the front office gets some brains and moves Bogaerts back to short, puts Middlebrooks at third and hopes he can give us the power we need---which I still think he can, bring up Betts and put him in center for more hitting and a hell of a lot more speed, and keep Brock Holt in one spot in the outfield. We just may start winning some games then, especially if the front office will wake up and smell the damn coffee and finally understand that we don't need Bradley's 207 and Drew's 159 average in the lineup. Come on guys go out there and get Lester four runs and we can win this game today. And if we're fortunate enough to win I WILL start the thread tomorrow!!!!!

STFU yourself and start acting like a lady---no wonder you can't hold on to a man. And the reason I singled you out tight draws was because the o thers were kidding me tongue and cheek about the game thread. I read vile, bile and sarcasm in what you wrote, and I will never start a thread when Drew is in the starting lineup. He doesn't belong in the lineup or on the team. He has caused a negative effect to the whole lineup and if you cannot see that you not only vile and bile, you're pretty stupid too. -

I usually agree with my pal 700 Hitter on just about everything and do here with one or two exceptions. Nava is starting to hit finally. I think he was done dirt to when they tried making him a leadoff hitter this season, something I made clear early on if you all remember that he was totally unequipped for. Now that he is in the sixth or seventh spot he is starting to get some hits I also disagree with putting Betts at third and Holt in center. If that were to take place I actually believe knucklehead Farrell would actually bench Brock to see his pet Bradley in the lineup. No, put Betts in CF to give us some better hitting and a helluva lot more speed and get Bradley the hell out of Boston on the first plane, train, bus or rail. When WMB comes back put him on third and just go with him come what may. Hell, if the FO could endure Bradley for almost three months we can give Will a full shot at third. I believe if he stays healthy he will give us some needed power and some decent hitting with runners in scoring position. AND G ET DREW THE HELL OUT OF THE LINEUP and put Bogaerts back at third. For the record, he pretty much stopped hitting as soon as he was moved. He is 4 for his last 43 and I personally believe that a lot of that had to do with his move off of shortstop. Pay of Drew and get him the hell off the team where he never should have been in the first place. -

You're right about one thing......for a change. When I saw that Drew was going to be in that lineup Friday I said s*** on that, they have no chance. Why start a thread when you know it is futile. Now take today. I'm told Drew is finally going to be glued to the bench. I just might start the thread because we now have at least a 50-50 chance to win the game. -

Linda and I watched "Field of Dreams" tonight on the tube. It made me escape for something pleasant for a couple of hours. Now reality has set in again.
