  1. Well guys, we had better find the recipe for victory tonight or we lose a game in the standings to you know who. The Pirates are laying down like dogs over in the Bronx and it looks like the Yankees are putting a nice little winning streak together. We all knew this was coming, but maybe when they start facing some tougher competition in the next couple of weeks they will come back down to earth. In the meantime we have to keep winning.
  2. Well done Jackson; even if what you say is half-right you've given us a good lowdown on our two teams' prospects and projects. Of course, how many of these guys are going to sign instead of going to college, and how many of them will push those already in their respective systems out of the picture and take their place. Once they sign that contract and start riding the busses, eating at the greasy spoons, seeing wild and sometimes controless balls coming at their heads, playing every day under harsher conditions than they are used to----well, the men will get separated from the boys very quickly.
  3. Right Schill---but I wonder why they came on board this time? I will not answer that guy any more. You have my word on it.
  4. Hey Crespo, you don't have to get on Riverside's case on this one; this is one move both of you can join forces on, and include me in the parade. I had a feeling Romero would wind up as a dismal pickup. I saw him numerous times the past two years out here at Angels Stadium and, believe me, he was quite unimpressive----and that's being very kind about it. By the way, F.....; nah, can't do it. Let's go for three in a row today. We will need it because the Pirates' chances of beating the Yankees at YS, well, I might take a bet if someone would give me five to one odds.
  5. You said it Riverside; a REAL GOOD RIGHT MOVE!!!!! I was afraid Javier would be doing the Youkalis Shuttle back to Pawtucket (remember 2005?), but this is one decision no one should find any trouble accepting. Romero was crap with the Twins in 2005, barf with the Angels last year and he didn't distinguish himself with us at all except for that one save he got for us early in the season. Being a lefty he will probably catch on with another team, probably someone like the Dodgers or Giants, but if we can get back a healthy and productive Mike Timlin that's like making a trade for Romero and getting the best of it.
  6. Youk of the Nation, what is so amazing about it? Come on, you should know as well as anyone about Red Sox Nation. Fans of our team are all over the country and in large numbers and most of them are not from Massachusetts or even New England. Get bit by the Red Sox bug and it become very contagious. Just look at me. Ever see a more out of control nut than me??? Well, I got a good night's sleep last night and I think it will be very pleasant this night as well. Very good win.
  7. Getting bagged was the best thing that could have happened to Gart Hartpence. If he had won the nomination Ronald Reagan would have cleaned his clock completely and render him more pathetic than he became.: ::thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown
  8. I also expect a win tonight only because of our putrid offensive performances up in Oakland have got to be better in the Arizona heat, but it probably will be a tough win by a couple of runs. I'm just not sure we're out of our funk yet with the lumber so Josh Beckett had better be on his game tonight. Gee, it would be wonderful in Lugo, Crisp and Drew had good games together to help us out.
  9. You're ok in my book Schill. Imagine a senior in high school having a more realistic sense of proportion that a senior citizen? Well we could be the Dodgers. They just blew a 5-1 lead in the ninth to the Padres and lost 6-5. I don't think Metro Cowboy will be visiting us for a few days at least as he recovers from shock. Then, again, remember Grady Little is now managing that team and we all know how he screwed us out of the 2003 AL Flag and a probable WS Title. He decided not to use his ace closer Saito and payed the price. Let's get them tomorrow my friend.
  10. Schill, I remember that very well. All I did after that play was rant about all the freakin' Yankee luck. You can almost list dozens of lucky breaks they got between 1996 and 2000. The one that still frosts my ass was that interference by the fan in RF that was missed by the umpires and turned into a big hit for the Bronx Bastards---as I used to call them in my less than classy days. Again, though, Schill, I really regret I didn't find the Red Sox until later in my life. They were there all the time; they were the team for me and I was too blind to see it. Talk about stupidity. Now you know why I'm so rabid; why I want to win every freakin' game and why I panic when they lose two in a row. Catching up is very hard to do.
  11. We go out and get Josh Beckett five or six runs and we should win. This one and two run crap has got to stop.
  12. Ok Schill, so everyone approves I withdraw my approval.
  13. Schill, you have to remember that I'm a senior citizen, 66 years old, even though I'm a big kid at heart. We had all sorts of names back when I was a tyke----honest injun, indian giver, indian hokum, hell, we had wierd names for all sorts of things, especially my kid years in New York where I first learned to be a Yankee hater. That story is absolutely true and I have to tell you at first I had no clue who those people were clapping for. I guess they all saw me head for the hills when that ******* security man ran for the cops and they were pulling for their fellow Red Sox fan. I knew right then that's where I belonged. The security people never came back and we had a blast seeing the Sox come back and win. Aside from that game, 2001 was a shitpile year for our team.
  14. f*** you Crespo!!!! There I beat you to it this time. Look, we won the game, 1-0. I'm happy for that, you're happy for that, the only ones who aren't are those "guests" who come on here every so often. I have never heard anything from you about how to improve the team. If you have any suggestions tell all of us; we are, after all, all in this together. Have a nice evening.
  15. Well every once or twice a year you get something right like your Dodgers do so I thought a kuddo would be a shot in the arm. Shock is more like it.
  16. He is a better hitter than Crisp is right now. We need some offense and it tells you how desperate I am to get some sock back in our lineup that I would even want him in our lineup. How many 1-0 games can we win?
