  1. HeadSox, I would take such a stat with open arms. Lugo needs to get on base more, however. More hits and stolen bases would go a long way to helping our offense. Remeber, my ass has been on the line because I was one of the loudest cheerleaders for the signing of Julio and no one likes to wind up looking like a fool. Download Bostondirtdogs.com and scroll down to the upper middle of the page and you will see a picture of the Fenway Park diamond with a hole at short and a bigger one in center. Apparently there are more people than I who think we have holes of a sort out there. As for Dunn, I was just throwing out some possibilities. Again, though, the guy I really would like is Eric Byrnes.
  2. Put the way you just did Jackson I now fully understand and can agree with you. This time, though, you did not even hint of questioning how much of a fan I am, and that makes all things cool. As far as Yankees are concerned, let me let you in on that one. While you can effectively question my RS pedigree you cannot even begin to question my Yankee hating one because that is superior to anyone on this board or any other board. It was forged as a young kid in the late 40's and early 50's in New York. You can read about the Brooklyn Dodgers fans of yore and you can get all the insight you need. I am probably the only kid in my old neighborhood who despised Joe DiMaggio. Even Italian kids who were Dodger fans loved and worshipped him. I hated his f***ing guts as I did all the Italians on that team---the ugly and repulsive Berra, ******* Raschi, the sawed off little s*** Rizzuto, and slimy filthy punk Martin (nee Alfonso Paesano) Good post by the way. No need to go to fights and crap. I also wonder what it would be like you and I ever wound up sitting next to one another at a Red Sox-Yankee game. It would be a sight to see.
  3. Just throwing out ideas HeadSox. Dunn is availabale; if we had him I think Pena might actually be traded away. Having them both in the lineup would make your head combust just like mind would from time to time. Now that you have gently shot my suggestion down, do you have any better suggestions to improve our attack with our shortstop and centerfield positions still a couple of season long black holes. You cannot be serious and tell me that you would be willing to ride this season out with those two in the lineup and still slumping, would you?
  4. Well guys, here's the solution. HOSN, you and I will root for him to have it together the rest of the year while Jacko roots the other way. I'm not here to get into an argument with anyone today, or any other day if I can help it.
  5. Bo, that is always a factor, perhaps as important as his effectiveness on the hill. I read where the Reds have put Adam Dunn on the market. I just wonder if the Red Sox would be interested? A lot of strikeouts but a 35-40 homer man who can field his position. Can play first or the outfield. It means moving Drew to center and it is a rent job for half a season, but right now I, too, am looking for a way to get another bat in the lineup. I was hoping I would hear Eric Byrnes' name bantered about last weekend but right now Theo seems to be in some daze that Crisp is finally going to turn it around, and Lugo is ready to break out. The latter? Maybe. The former? No way Jose.
  6. Ditto from where I sit Crunch, but with the proper mechanics and control of his floater he is a very effective pitcher and that is what we need very badly from our fourth starter. It does us no good when he walks a ton of runners or gets his knuckler high in the zone because it results in hits, walks, and stolen bases---and most likely a loss. If he is in a hot zone now let's hope he stays that way for the rest of the season because an effective Wakefield means we win the division. My opinion anyway.
  7. Kilo, you've seen the walks, balls left high in the zone that have gotten ripped, the track meet when runners get on base consistently-----that has not been what is required from our fourth starter and for the most part that is what we've gotten. If Candiotti's tutoring really works we have a Wakefield who will go out there and pitch as he did last night. That makes us that much stronger----if, of course, we can start hitting when he pitches. Let's say Tim goes out there and pitches another half-dozen good games in a row, what then???? What then means we have as good a starting rotation as any in baseball and with our lead we might even have a chance to increase it a couple of games over the next month or two. With Lester hopefully not too far removed from returning to us we could have the kind of staff that makes us the best team in baseball. That is what I would love to see.
  8. Jacko told me earlier today to cut Wakefield some slack and I said I would if he could go out there and pitch a good game. Well, he certainly did that and more, and maybe this game is more important than many of us realize. IF Wakefield has turned the corner with two good outings in a row it is fair to say that we have four good starters and I think if that is true we have the makings of a staff that can carry us to the AL East Title. Of course, I'm still ticked we cannot give Tim more batting support but it was a good win. Maybe tomorrow the bats will heat up.
  9. No way we could keep Lugo at No. 1; he just wasn't hitting nor getting on base via walks. Speed or no speed you can't steal first base. Hopefully after a time down there he will be able to resume his normal leadoff spot when he gets his head cleared and starts hitting for us again.
  10. Jacko, I will cut him all the slack he wants if he can go out there tonight and win one for the Towne Team, and here's hoping Candy Man did the right job with Tim. As for Helton, oh I wish he was in our uniform.
  11. Tonight there can be no more excuses for Wakefield; he has to step up and do a bang-up job, and the offense has to treat their pitcher better than an orphan by going out and getting him what he needs to win---a lot of what he needs.
  12. SoxNation, right now to get some punch in CF I would be more than willing to give Pena a shot for a couple of weeks out there even though I'm not a Pena man as you might know. Crisp has been horrid and we have no other options right now, so, why not. Tonight especially since we have Mirabelli in the lineup we need all the firepower we can get. I hope Pena plays, does well, and makes me eat my words.
  13. Schill, I'm through responding to that guy. He can respond to himself. He goes to different boards and plucks out something someone else said in my name as in that other board, or something I said last year that has no bearing on this season. My concern is the Red Sox and the rest of the season. I can't learn anything from him.
  14. That was last year jerkoff. This is a new year and Pena hasn't done much to warrant any special consideration except for the fact that Crisp is doing worse so why not give him a chance since we have no other options at the present time. You're not very smart, are you? And don't give me any of this bandwagon s***. What I said last year doesn't necessarily holds true for this year. Even an airhead like you ought to underatand that.
  15. The next six games at home??? I want Wily Mo in center. We need some extra hitting and he might just give us some thunder around his plethora of strikeouts. How's that Kilo?
  16. I think it was you that told me you are about 20 or so; is that right? Well if so you haven't been a Red Sox fan that much longer than I have, but I take it you go back to Jimy and Joe. Well I certainly would take Tito over those two shits any day, and double that for Grady @#$%^&*.
  17. Can't call them friends Kilo; I just know them from a sports bar I sometimes frequent when my wife and her friends take the evening off an I'm out of sorts watching TV and want to talk baseball with people in the flesh. And who wants to keep trotting out suckbag Coco? You've read most of my posts; anywhere you got the impression that I am a big Coco booster?
  18. Kilo, if you will take the time to explain that statement of yours to me I promise I will be all ears. Listen, I don't hate Francona; after all he is a Dago like I am, but some of his moves really leave me cold.
  19. An idiot Kilo???? Come on, give me a little credit for being a tad smarter than that. You yourself say he can't manage a pen, don't like his lineups. Does that make you a moron? Francona may be better than the other three but not by much. You certainly can't compare him with the likes of Leyland, Piniella or Scioscia, can you???? Watch your answer because the wrong one will put you with me in the 2007 Class of Idiots. Too bad we can't hit and pitch like the idiots of yore did. Anyway, different strokes for different folks.
