  1. Hey Don yeszir, you and Schill are great moderators and we have one helluva board here. Nothing they do is going to spoil it whether they stay or go.
  2. Rodney, no one lumps you with those guys so forget it. Actually there are a few pretty good chaps on that DB Board. Unfortunately, only one or two post here. The rest are troublemakers and this time they aren't on here to just bother me because they know I don't give a rat's s*** about what they think because most of them don't know s*** from shinola. They come here now to harass Schill, Crunch, yeszir, Jacko, me and the rest of the posters who have made this a great board. No, I do NOT want to get them banned to be perfectly honest with you. I say let them stay to demonstrate just how ridiculous and idiotic they are. As for you, I can emphatize with you and your team, but right now the Dodgers are just f***ing around with the use of their personnel. Betemit ought to be out there robbing hubcaps, Ethier and Kemp should both be in that lineup full time from here on in, that little s*** Pierre ought to go back to Paris or wherever the hell he hails from, and Loney should be put on first base or traded to a team that will play him instead of that washed up me-first bum that we ran out of Boston before going on to win the 2004 WS.
  3. I got news for you yeszir and got it from a couple of my friends on DB who also post on another Dodger Board---the fact is those guys come on this board now to bother all of us, you, Jacko, me, the whole lot of us.
  4. s*** Soxfan, that guy on the left looks like a spittin' image of Phil Torres, my ace pitcher on my 1990's Stan Musial teams. The guy was the amateur Greg Maddux and won me five championships, three Major Tournament titles, and two league titles, and would have won three league awards if we hadn't went independent one summer. He was something like 38-4 for me over five seasons, even though he missed the first of half of every season because he was coaching high school ball. If I had had the guy all year he would have probably won twice as many games as he did. Who the hell is that guy on the left anyway?
  5. Actually they finally hit on a good topic yeszir. There is a book out that rates the 100 best baseball announcers of all time. Vin Scully is rated No. 1. In my opinion he is the very best there is. It is very pleasant listening to his broadcasts because he brings so much to the game. Needless to say, I have always been interested in the announcers of my favorite sport. My all time favorite was Red Barber who I cut my teeth with starting in 1947 when my father finally got his way with his seven year old and made him baseball nut. Next year Ernie Harwell joined Brooklyn and his voice was rich baratone with a pleasant Georgia accent. We used to argue the merits of everything when I was a kid in New York---who was the best CF, Mays, Snider or Mantle, Reese or Rizzuto at shortstop, Campy or Berra behind the plate, Barber or Mel Allen on the mike. The Brooklyn Dodgers almost always lost the WS to the Yankees, but just for the record it was Barber over Allen, Reese over Rizzuto, Campanella over Berra, and for a short time Snider over Mays and Mantle. In fact, if there was not f***ing black barrier Campy would have most likely gone down as the greatest all around catcher of all time.
  6. I really liked the front six of our batting order today. It looks like it could be a pretty tough bunch if Manny gets real hot and they all do their job, but that bottom three? Man, that was not very impressive. When Lugo screwed that bunt up he officially got on my s*** list along with Crisp and Pena. Sorry Kilo, but Pena looks as s***** as ever and getting shittier by the minute. Crisp is a stupid bastard getting picked off like that. In a close game it could kill us, and I hope he gets his head out of his ass quickly. Okijima another decent performance. I think he was used because Francona decided smartly that he wanted this win to go out on the road with at least a 8.5 game lead. Can't complain about the sweep. yeszir should also be happy because the Dodgers are getting embarrassed again by the Angels which means those wheenies won't be around for a few days. On to Atlanta.
  7. Just as long as Pineiro is not going out there in the eighth. Please Francona, no pushing your luck this time. As for Wakefield, well, he got the runs and he got hammered. I guess he was due for something like this.
  8. Kilo, once again youth triumphs over age. Great idea---but they won't go away for long. You know what I've come to believe? That those guys actually come on here to see what real baseball fans are like, the kind that know the game and its finer points, and the kind of fans who really and truly live and die with their beloved Red Sox. Now, here's an even better idea. Let's get ourselves mentally ready to give off the vibes that will help our team win that third game of the series today. Hopefully, we will combine both the pitching and hitting this afternoon. Catch you later; I'm off on my morning walk.
  9. Good question Kilo and even better description of Ken Rosenthal. The guy is pure BS along the lines of that jerk on baseball tonight, Steve Phillips. There were only rumors of such a trade, ideas that were thrown out, nothing of substantial talks between Sabean and Epstein. I was online every day damn day this off season fuming about our collapse last year and you might have read by day one, day two, day twenty two, and all the non-action of our GM until he finally pulled the trigger on Drew and Lugo and Matsuzaka and Donnelly and Okijima. Hopefully, none of those bullets turn out to be long range blanks. However, for concrete talks of such a trade, nada, zilch, nein, no mas, NYET!!!!!!!
  10. I do them in bunches Chin. Unlike most of you I have a piss-poor time cavorting with you guys on the game thread and have to wait until the game is over to calm down and get my bearings.
  11. Rod, I was getting a little carried away with the July 4th stuff, but with four of the teams in your division weak hitting, it would make it easier for the Red Sox to deal with those teams. In the AL East we always have the Yankees to battle, and Toronto is a solid team, Baltimore is improving and I keep expecting with all the good young players they have that Tampa Bay will suddenly become a formidable team. As for our offense, well, I'm wondering like most Red Sox fans when we are going to see it again. We haven't hit as we should.
  12. Rodney, your posts have been pretty damn good if I may say so myself and I don't think there are any Red Sox fans who have any beef with you, but there are a couple of your friends.....well, as long as we talk Red Sox, Yankee, Dodger, Angels, anyone baseball we all should be able to get along. Right now your Dodgers look like they can't hit s*** when they play the Angels, Padres or Giants and the Red Sox look like s*** with the bat when they face almost anybody. To me, I am only concerned that the Sox start hitting as they are capable of. I do wish, however, we could play a year in the NL West. I think we would have the thing sewed up by the 4th of July.
  13. Now don't get bitter Jacko. After all that Mcf***er is so biased towards your Yankees when he announces a Sox-NY game that I feel like puking. I have the last four games of that 2004 ALCS ( I gave the first three shithole games away) and the only time he gave the Red Sox any couth was that A-Rod incident. Of course, that play was so obvious that even that jerk could see what the call should be.
  14. MTB, I know what you mean. I had to endure the Angels-Dodgers game which might be great for the people where I live but I would have loved to see that duel between Dick-K and Matt Cain. Of course, we got it on radio and we sure got ourselves out of some deep doo-doo a few times. The radio feed from WRKO was decent, though. At least I got to hear my favorite team win their second in a row. Three would be better tomorrow.
  15. You called it right Jacko. Let me tell you about Matt Cain. If this kid ever gets some real hitting support he is going to be something to see. Oh yes, he already is, but I mean he will get a large number of wins if the Giants ever return to the hitting team they once were. I figured like you in a close game, something like 3-1 or 3-2, but Red Sox fans cannot bitch about lack of hitting today. We faced a damn good young pitcher with an upside that could say Cy Young Award in a couple of years. Matsuzaka is getting to be the Tim Wakefield of lack of batting support fame, but today it was because we faced a very good young pitcher. Fortunately, Dice-K pitched a very good game himself and it looks like Papelbon is lights out again as our closer. It would have been even better if your Yankees had lost, but I never believed the Mets would sweep them at YS. Now it's a rubber game with those NY teams.
