  1. Nahh, Arroyo has more slurvy late-breakin stuff. Like his ruve moves an inch but its so late if thrown right its effective, also his fastball is nothin special. His curve has a decent and sharp break on it, and his fastball has that 2 seam effect on it, breaking down and away at 90. He should try aiming at the hitters so it'll come back into the zone, i'll always remember Lowe using it in the 03 ALDS.
  2. The thing we were missing was power, and we got plenty of it this draft, Im really liking what we did this year and it gets better, even in the 14th year.
  3. Hah, bernie gives a curtain call for htting a homer off a rookie they should be hammering. You gotta admit, pauley's got balls doin what he's doin, givin up one run in yaneke stadium
  4. He keeps it up he'll break some kinda record for most DPs induced. Btw, hows his curve lookin? I have to resort to gamecast
  5. Well considering theres not much to be desperate about, id say Pauley's satrtin tonight
  6. I like Bard at 28, if he can get his breaking ball more consistent he should make another great addition to our young pitching core in the minors an already projects as a #1 or #2
  7. I disagree, color-commentating isnt about making controversial statements, or cracking jokes, but just to point out certain things the normal fan wouldn't notice, like mechanics, or analyzing a strikeout, or approach at the plate. If you stick to that, there will be no need to worry about being PC.
  8. JVB has been proving himself useful sicne bein brought p, and frnakly Im suprised at his performance, though we certainly need him to keep it up.
  9. That's not exactly advantageous to us, we have a wierd history of doing terrible against pitchers we have never seen before, no matter their skill level.
  10. Not even I would make that trade, from the Sox side I mean. By no means is Brandon Webb garunteed to keep this up for his entire career, and thiough he is god, i would rather keep 3 potentially vital parts of our future than 1 starter that Lester could very well out-do.
  11. So far he's battin .667 at Wilmington with 1BB, and 1 RBI
  12. Christopher Trot Nixon = The man
  13. Scouting Report: Good, smart athlete. Originally played second, third, and first base in the organization, but was converted to a catcher in 2006. Average speed and power. Aggressive hitter. Able to play all infield and outfield positions. Lifelong Red Sox fan. Attempting to pick up catching for 2006. Was promoted to Wilmington for this season
  14. I voted for Lowell, hoepfully Sox nation will wake up n get votin
  15. Yeah, he aint exactly stinkin up the joint now
  16. No, it doesnt mean they dont care, though they may be babying Lester more. But that start was meant for Pauley because everything worked out, the 40 man roster, the same scheduled start, just everything fit.
  17. Yeah, same, He's more awaited than I think paps was when he came up, hopefully he does decent. Id be wicked bumemd if he got absolutely hammered
  18. Wow, what a game, just saw the highlights, man I wish I saw it live, friggin finals.
  19. Yeah, I think clutch-hitting is legit, but though skill has something to do with it, but also mental ability does as well. If you have the determination to pull off something that big, then it most likely will happen. I think Ortiz just has the perfect mindset when he gets up to the plate in a close situation.
  20. Current AL Leaders: C - Varitek 1B - Ortiz 2B- Cano 3B- Rodriguez SS- Jeter LF - Manny CF - Damon RF - Guerrero Varitek and Cano are probably the worst picks in there, and maybe Damon as Vernon Wells should most deinately be our starting CF.
  21. It'd be interesting to see how he does in Yankee Stadium, if he even lasts 5 innings thatd be somewhat of an accomplishment, and he coudls induce a lot of double plays again as his sinking fastball and changeup serve well to that cause. Howeevr, if he does not have his surve, he will get trounced, as the Yankees can just sit dead red and slam balls all the way back to Boston.
  22. Rotation: -Young -Ruth -Clemens -Martinez -Tiant Bullpen: CL- Papelbon SU- Radatz Lineup: C- Fisk 1b- Foxx 2b- Doerr 3b- Boggs SS- Petrocelli Of- Williams Of- Yastremski Of- Ramirez
  23. I agree, give him another shot and let him work on his pitches with Nipp's help. If he gets his hook back he'll be in good shape.
