    Wow, a tad impatient are we? Why is this even an issue right now? We're 10-5, we're in 1st place, we're a pitching team with an offense that's finding itself. I mean it's not like we're gunna sit Manny because he's hitting badly. The last thing you WANT to do is sit him, and completely wreck his confidence. Also, it's not liek we have Loretta on the bench, it's Alex Cora, a guy who is much better suited giving our INFs a break now and then. Get off the high your all in from his gamewinning hit yesterday (which was a bloop, and which he benefited from Jeter playing in) because if he plaeyd everyday it wouldn't happen everyday. Pedroia has teh potential to hit .300 every year and play a solid 2B for years to come, just because he's not doign that in his rookie seaosn doesn't mean he won't next eyar or teh year after that.

    tito always seems to do these untimely rests, but then again sometiems it pays off. If we even come close to a victory today, I'll be happy, especially with Halladay coming off a 10 inning complete game v. Detroit.

    Thatd be pretty unselfish of Matsuzaka to throw at Guillen at any point in time, seeing as today is his day, and if he were tossed he would get a lot of respect from his teammates IMO. Depnding on the situation, he would get respect from the fans as well. However, it would be stupid to draw first blood, let Seattle go afetr someone first.

    Are you talking runners not advancing because of the space behind home plate? because if thats true I honestly had no idea, given teams ran 170 times against Tek in the 2000 and even more in 1999. But the arm isn't the only thing, it's that Tek can block home plate with the best of them, and if your going to use that argument against Drew, the same could be applied here. "How you can give Posada the edge over Tek, when they both played in the AL in 2005, but Tek won the gold glove?

    I doubt 2 years would remove that much, I'd still much ratehr have Tek blocking home before Posada, the knock against him last season was his offense, lets not carry it over to his D. Plus Posada, while throwing out 30% also had 129 attempts to do so in 2005, whereas Tek only had 86 attempts against him, I think it's safe to say MLB teams would run more often if they faced worse throwing, whther it be accuracy or what have you. Yeah, he improved, but no way he had a "very good season". His RAA of 15 speaks for itself. Crisp's F% was better, I'll give him a slight edge in arm strength though it is somewhat dubious, and his RFg was better as well. Just fyi, I was giving this is a slight edge, as their lgF%s and RF9 are both even. Drew ahs the better range, while Abreu has the better F%, that's why I gave Drew the edge with the better arm.

    yeah, Cano is not better than Pedroia at all, and to say theyre a wash is even somehwat reaching. C - Varitek (Gold Glove) 1B - Mientkiewicz 2B - Pedroia 3B - Lowell SS - Jeter LF - Matsui CF - Crisp RF - Drew (Better arm) End Tally: Sox by 2

    Not too worried about Schill, probably just had a s*** day commandment-wise. Needs to get his fastball and splitty to be more consitent with location and velocity (fastball). Needs to decide what he wants to be this season, a power guy who gets Ks like he used to (spli/fastball) or transitioning into finesse type of guy (with a still good fastball, but can mix in slider and change). Promising play from Pedroia, and Drew. But Lugo, and Tek looked like they didn't realize the season was starting (Tek also looked like he was a bit more hesitantw ith his swings). Not gunna get myself worked up about anything as of coruse it's the first game, but against the Royals it sucks a bit more.

    If everything goes well this year, or even decent we will take the AL East. This is our best chance since 04 and though we don't have the 1-2 of Martinez and Schilling (back then) we have a 4 man deep rotation of solid pitchers who can pick up a win against anyone. That, plus the re-vamped lineup, and Papelbon as our closer, looks very good on paper. Meanwhile, the Yanks have the same question marks we have rotation-wise, but if both teams stay healthy, we definitely have the edge in talent. But because of the Yanks lineup, they still may take the AL east crown and at the least take 2nd and the WC. The main goal for this team right now is to get into the playoffs, where it turns to our strength of having 4 solid starting pitchers, which can beat anyone in the AL if theyre on except for maybe the ChiSox.
