  1. now that's gotta be one of my favorite posts little leaguers on crack and i wouldn't necessarily call sweeping the D-Rays surging, but it's certainly a welcome improvement
  2. What the heck ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Was Giambi tested for steroids this season? Probably. Was Giambi's name released this season as an active user of steroids? No. Until MLB says his name neither you nor I have any valid reason to assume that Giambi's weight and/or muscle gain has anything to do with steroids.
  3. Welcome.
  4. Eh, my idea of a fan isn't someone who buys a Yankee hat, a Red Sox hat, a Marlins hat, and a Cubs hat at the same time and then wears each one depending on the colors in their outfit on any given day. I understand what you mean though and appreciate your point of view.
  5. Our views of what a fairweather fan is is obviously different. I don't mean casual fans, I mean people who just wear Yankee hats or Boston hats because they are "cool". People who can't name you a player other than DJ or Ortiz on the team. People who wouldn't consider themselves baseball fans but if you ask them who they root for they just say the last team to win the World Series. Its not that I look down on them, or anyone for that matter, its just that I wouldn't consider having a conversation with them over someone who is capable of putting up a valid argument.
  6. Negative. The Yankees aren't out of the AL East race. Smith is just being hard on his team and not getting his hopes up incase he does have to settle with the Wild Card. Honestly, anything can happen. I'm just gonna enjoy the ride.
  7. Do you look at fairweather fans in a favorable light? Would you rather replace a fairweather fan with yourself and let him/her defend a point to a true baseball fan of another team? :dunno: I understand that because I am younger than you you might not think that I have been through enough baseball seasons to love my team through thick and thin, but please, if you knew me, you would know that I bleed pinstripes. Have for ten years and will for the rest of my life.
  8. To quote Twain, "All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure." I'm only kidding and trying to make light of a conversation that got somewhat heated. I was in no way condescending anyone ORS, and am still confused as to where in the passage you quoted me I seemed to be doing so. It is unfair to say Yankee fans are more ignorant because last time I checked no one surveyed both fanbases on their knowledge, or lack there of, on the team they support and on baseball.
  9. Yeah the article lost me after the first two words. It is obviously written by a Red Sox fan and we all know that journalists in Boston, or anywhere for that matter, don't try to hide where their loyalties are, so of course they are going to try to make RS fans feel better. I've seen many articles like that written by Yankee fans saying everything would be alright when the Yanks were 11-18. :dunno:
  10. I got home from the game a while ago and man that was great. Wake was really outstanding, as usual, and we finally see a stellar performance from RJ. I was about three rows right behind the middle of the Red Sox dugout so I got some great pictures of the RS players. Now if only I could figure out my scanner...
  11. Are you proud of the bandwagoners that make red sox fans as a whole look like *******s? Because thats what most of them are, fairweather fans. And trust me, as a yankee fan who enjoys more conversing with red sox fans than stupid bandwagon yankee fans (YES Boards), you don't want everyone and their mother to just become a Red Sox fan.
  12. Ah please, don't even say....Devil Rays! No but in all seriousness you are right. I wouldn't put it past Toronto and Baltimore to make next seasons AL East race as interesting as this years AL Wild Card race.
  13. I think you hit the nail right on the head there, especially about it being even bigger now that both teams are so dominant.
  14. Of course it was blown up just a tad, but Sox fans will never admit it. Yankee fans just can't comprehend how it must have felt to be tormented for so many years (even though most Red Sox fans are not 86 years old to have experienced it all themselves), so we just have to roll with how they deal with winning. :dunno: I'm just kidding with you guys of course (people can kid around, right?), but it was a pretty big deal. I'm just really sick of hearing about it. It isn't only the Sox winning the world series, it is now everyone praising anyone who wears a Red Sox uniform. It's like the media is trying to brainwash everyone into becoming a RS fan. Honestly, I had to put the games on FOX & ESPN on mute because I just couldn't stand it anymore. It will pass though I'm sure. People will realize that the Sox do exactly what the Yankees do, as pointed out in the article, and the casual baseball fans will soon proclaim the Cubs America's favorite team.
  15. Key word there being YES Boards Besides, I didn't say Yankee fans loved the Red Sox, I'm just saying I think that Red Sox fans hate the Yankees more than Yankees fans hate the Red Sox. I also said to tell me if you think otherwise, which I am assuming you do. And please, anything said on those boards is not a valid representation of true Yankee fans feelings.
  16. Didn't read the article, too tired, but I'll put my $0.02 in anyway I feel more hatred coming from Red Sox fans to the Yankees than I feel Yankee fans give toward the Red Sox. Sure both fan bases hate each other, but there aren't anywhere near the amount of Boston Sucks sites as there are Yankees Suck sites. And I know some people who aren't fans of the Red Sox make those sites, but for the most part they are made by RS fans. So I guess now that the Sox won, you guys don't feel so much hatred? I don't know, you are the Sox fans so correct me if I'm wrong. I'll be at the game tomorrow though, and I'm sure there won't be any trace of the rivalry being dead. Edit: Curiosity killed the cat as they say, and I read the article. This was by far the most interesting exerpt IMO: pretty interesting...
  17. Slow down there horsey. Nobody has lost their humanity here lol. The Yankees gave one million dollars in donations for Katrina. Now that was very charitable, no? Does that make you change your entire opinion on the Yankees? No. People are simply stating, or at least I did, that it was indeed very nice of him to offer his home and a lending hand out to those less fortunate. That being said, I respect what he has done, and like I said it is more than most other players have contributed to the relief effort, but I don't think that gives me any reason to change my entire opinion of the guy and suddenly declare him my new savior, just as you won't declare the Yankees your new favorite team. I know he is a good guy at heart, I just don't like him or his mouth. Loosen up the ropes there buddy.
  18. It is a very nice gesture on his part, and it's more than what other players have done. I have known he is a charitable guy for a while now though, with all he has done for Lou Gehrig's Disease (he even had his own segment on Lou Gehrig's Yankeeography on YES), but I still hate the guy.
  19. Welcome, fellow Yankees fan!
  20. Nah Joe will put Small in the bullpen before he puts Leiter there. Leiter can't come into a game and throw strikes, which eliminates all his value. You need Leiter in the rotation, see how he does, and have the comfort zone of knowing Small will be able to bail him out if needed.
  21. He really is. I love the guy, how can you not? He is class act and could come up huge for the Yanks down the stretch.
  22. Wow. Now THAT is a low blow. So our rotation down the stretch will look like RJ, Wright, Chacon, Small, and Leiter? Moose! I'm gonna miss you!!
  23. Let him do his thing in AAA. I for one do not trust him on a major league level.
  24. Eh I don't think its that big of a deal that the Yanks and Sox have under .500 records against the rest of the league. They are still numbers one and two. My guess is that the division will be decided in the last series. Being that the series is played at Fenway, it's a little discouraging to a Yankee fan, but nonetheless, it will be a fun ride 'til the end.
  25. I just can't win on these boards can I? Oh well lol It's my screen name from a yankee board, so the first one that popped into my head. I like to think of it as a little tribute to Lou Gehrig, known as pride of the yankees. Don't mean to be cocky or anything.
