  1. and take the major cap hit that Davis would provide if you traded him? They just signed him to a big extension. If they didnt sign him to that extension then thats fine but thats a huge cap hit if they trade him plus theres no garentee they even get a 2nd rounder for him. In fact if the Texans did trade that pick they would prob get a a heck of alot more then just 2 picks. Compare that to what the Chargers got for Eli Manning and the Texans could come away with a total of 6 picks from this draft and next. Some team will be desperate enough to make a trade like that.
  2. Exactly, with all of the hype Bush has if the Texans were smart they trade Bush for multiple picks and then you build a team that way. All of a sudden you have 4 players with potential on your team as opposed to 1 great one.
  3. Peyton Manning over his 8 year career has been sacked 156 times. David Carr over his 4 year career has been sacked 208 times. You are wasting David Carr(who was the #1 pick in 02) if you cant protect him. Plus you figure you could get mulitiple picks from another team so all of a sudden your looking at 4 picks in the first 2 rounds. Thats how you make a team better. Just ask the Cowboys and the Vikings about that herschel walker trade. The Vikings gave the Cowboys their dynasty when they traded almost there entire draft for Walker.
  4. I doubt it also. Its too complicated to get done like that.
  5. as See Red said, Bush has never donned an NFL jersey yet so I wont compare him to a top 3 running back of all time. I feel bad for David Carr. How many times has he been sacked for his career now?
  6. This is one of those situations where Houston would be better trading down to about the 3rd or 4th pick, getting other picks and drafting what they really need in D'Brickashaw Ferguson(Offensive Tackle from Virginia). But because of fan pressure they will prob pick Bush and stink again next year because they cant block anyone.
  7. I heard a report on ESPN's Colin Cowherd show that Clarett was in Los Angeles
  8. Just like one of the great playoff pitchers in David Wells who blew up after the Graffanino error? Wang was on pace to win that start but the A-Rod error on the Caberea chopper changed everything. He didnt blow up, in fact he was out pitching John Lackey to that point. I'm not the only one calling Hughes a stud. Only baseball america and John Sickels are calling him a stud also.
  9. I'm not worried about Hughes health to be honest. Hughes was shutdown last season not because he was injuried but because the Yanees didnt want to overwork him. It was the newspapers that reported that he might have a tired arm or shoulder tendnites. I spoke with Frankie Pililere (pinstripes plus writer) and he told me he spoke with Hughes and he said he was fine. The other injury Hughes had was a broken toe that occured when he was running to get his cell phone from his hotel room. Thats just a freak injury. So I'm not worried yet about Hughes and his "injury problem". As for Wang if you look at his GB/FB ratio it shows hes a dominate ground ball pitcher(In SEPT he got 69 GB outs compared to 10 FB outs). So its not like hes Bronson Arroyo who strikes out only 100 a year but hes a fly ball pitcher. Wang's strike out pitch in the minors was a splitter but he scraped it and went with just his sinnker and his change up. He has a powerful sinker and if he uses his spillter more often I can project him to maybe a Brandon Webb type pitcher. Also where did you get that Wang could be rattled at times? In fact his character IMO shows the oppisite.
  10. I dont think thats a good trade for the Sox. Gathright is pretty overrated. Getting Gathright doesnt warrent giving up Marte.
  11. I'm chomping at the bit for another question.
  12. Nah, in every Yogi Berra interview he tells that same story. Lol it sticks after awhile.
  13. Ted Williams? Is this the story when Yogi drops the last out then he gets another chance at it and he makes the catch?
  14. I was throeing out the hidden agenda thing to people like Jimmy Caretr who speak out of both sides of their mouth. On top you mean world series on top? (5 different teams in the last 5 years). We are going to have to agree to disagree on this.
  15. I never said Pavano and Wright didnt suck. I also never said trade them for guys like Reed and Chris Young. Please dont put words in my mouth. Again if the Dodgers or Padres give you top flight prospects for David Wells (a pitcher who by the way is likely to retire after this season, who wants out of Boston so that takes away any leverge the Red Sox have because they have to move him and is 42 year old) then the people who are running those teams are morons.
  16. Well you didnt bash Nomar but you would be lying if you said you didnt see the newspapers in boston rip him to shreads on the way out.
  17. Same with Nomar
  18. Thats your anwser? David Wells wants a trade so we should get something out of it? What leverage do the Red Sox have in any negotiation for Wells? Every team in baseball knows he wants out you add that to the fact hes 42 years old and a history of back problems. Whos going to give up good young players for that? Just in case you guys havent noticed Clement sucks and makes around 7 mill a year. If he didnt suck you guys wouldnt be so eager to dump him. With that said why do the Mariners trade a good young CF who was once a top prospect for Matt Clement?
  19. No, you quit while you were BEHIND because I proved you were (and still are) a hyprocrite. You again bring up the fact that small market teams wont be able to re-sign and keep their players but yet in another thread you want to dump Matt Clement salery on the Mariners and take Jeremy Reed from them and also you want to trade David Wells for Chris Young and other prospects. Is that not taking good young players away from small market teams? You advocate robbing smaller market clubs and dumping s***** contracts and old players on them BUT yet in this thread you argue against it. Which way are you going on this issue? You cant have it both way because your a Red Sox fan. Just say it for what it really is and stop sugar coating why you really want a cap.
  20. I know I said that would be it but I have to respond to this: WOW come on? are you kidding me?, The Marlins this winter sold off (for the most off) pieces that werent even there for the 2003 run. The White Sox just added Jim Thome and Vazquez and there payroll currently stands at 75 mill (per ESPN http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/salaries?team=chw) and the Angels had a 2002 opening day payroll of 62 mill. The D-Backs had a payroll of 87 million( http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/news/2001/04/09/arizona_salary/ ) and excuse me for not feeling bad for the D-Backs when they traded RJ and Curt Schilling for what amounts to a bag of s*** then precced to hand out 4 year deals to the likes of Russ Ortiz. Thats called being stupid. I picked those 5 teams to show that there has been parody despite what you and some media types say. ALSO before you try and blow up my point etc etc, try and do some reserch instead of just throwing statements out there about how the White Sox payroll must be over 100 mill(When infact it barely cracked 70) and how the Marlins traded off all of there big salery players(when most werent even on the 03 roster). You could have saved us all alot of time.
  21. I'm gonna have to call it a night. In closing I just want to say this topic always comes up when the Yankees sign a major free agent and I've fought this battle before. Weather its Jason Giambi, or Mike Mussina or Alex Rodriguez the headline right behind it is the rich get richer. The cap is purly centered around the Yankees and not helping the smaller market clubs. You use the smaller market clubs to camouflage your real agenda. Of course that isnt true for some fans like MC Hammer and One Red Seat but I know for a fact most fans here dont give a crapola about the Royals.
  22. thats another point. How much do we know they are getting? Could be more could be less.
  23. I anwsered that question already
  24. Your assuming that. The Yankees this winter (outside of Damon) have been VERY conservative in their moves. Which I beleive will continue with Cashman in charge. Your also assuming that the market wont change. Consider this, just a few years ago Manny and A-Rod recieved HUGE contrcts. 2 years ago Vlad Guerrero becomes a FA and he gets a 70 MILL deal. If he was a FA just a few years before he easily cracks 100 MILL.The maket goes up and down. You can count on Damons contract as being the norm for the future.
