Maybe your right. Maybe at the end of the day Lester isnt hurt either way. It certainly helps that Lester isnt being destroyed on this level. The only thing is in the minors you are allowed to focus on certain parts of your game and when your in the majors your really not able to.
Maybe you do that trade, and prior to Nixon getting hurt you trade him for some relief help(The Pirates are so stupid maybe you rob them of Mike Gonzalez) and put Pena in the line up even before the Nixon injury.
My point being that hes not being helped being up in the majors right now. He caould develop better in the minors and gain better control quickly. If you read what I said, by having him up here now it might take awhile for him to develop fully.
Thats another thing that got me. Do you guys think that Lester is going to be better then Roy Oswalt? Its not like Oswalt is 35 years old. Oswalt could have helped you guys this year and for many years foward.
Hes not based on his career minor league # however if hes allowed to work on it in the minors he could certainly improve on it as opposed to letting him struggle with it in the majors. That was my point.
Boy talk about putting words in my mouth. Lets do this 1 more time:
His career minor league WHIP suggests that hes not going to be Mike Mussina or Curt Schilling(Which is about as good as it gets in the majors) control wise and by having him up here your not really allowing him to totally focus on his control issues thus not allowing him to reach his full potential. It might take awhile longer for him.
I never said they did however you might be retarding his growth right now. I dont think Lester is ever going to be a guy with great control. He had a near 1.30 WHIP(career) in the minors so hes never going to be Curt Schilling or Mike Mussina control wise however with a little more time in the minors it would have been something he could work on.
