    I mentioned this before which is why I don't think they resign him. If the Sox were to pony up a 350 Mil contract Betts is the guy they needed to give it too and they didn't. I just can't see a deal happening.

    They would still have an advantage overall. The problem with the Sox they always seem to have a contract that's s*** which is eating their payroll for nothing. Currently that's Chris Sale.

    Based on what we've heard they were never interested in Bogey. He was low balled badly. Which is too bad as he seemed to like Boston. The only way they have a shot with Devers is if he wants to stay here which in this case he might do like Pedroia and take a hometown discount and accept a figure around 290-300 Mil

    Not quite. There are 17 teams that make below 300 Million in revenues. Mind you they could certainly still spend quite a bit but not like what Cohen is doing. In the Sox case they have an advantage

    I agree. If I read correctly, the Sox are the 3rd highest revenue in MLB at 479 Million. Henry needs to start writing bigger checks. He could go bananas like Cohen and he would not be losing any money.

    I agree with everything there. I've said before this season ended he's not a 300 Million dollar player let alone 400 Million. But based on recent contracts I would now go 300 Million. Anything more I'd trade him.

    This is a pipe dream. Devers is gone. Mookie is twice the player Devers is and they wouldn't sign him for 350 Mil. So I doubt they sign Devers for that. In fact it would probably take closer to 400 Mil with the way contracts have been rolling out these past few weeks.

    They are NOT extending Devers. He will be testing free agency. The ONLY way this doesn't happen is if the Red Sox blow him away with an offer and we know that won't happen

    There's no way Devers doesn't test free agency based on what he's seen the last few weeks. The only way he's signed to an extension before he hits free agency is if they make a ridiculous offer to him

    I keep hearing some people talking about trade. Who are we going to trade for that would fetch a good player? Apparently the whole point of bloom being here was to rebuild the farm. They are not going to trade their good prospects away and that leaves not much for trade candidates. What are we going to trade? Junk for junk?

    He's a negative value period. Even his defense isn't enough to keep him on a roster anymore. And he's getting older now so the defense will start to fade so he will be even worse value
