It would be a nightmare for a groundball pitcher to pitch for the bluejays. I would say Bard would have only given up 4 hits, maybe 3 if this game was at any other stadium.
He was hitting around .275 before injuries took there tolls... It wasn't his worst season, but he wasn't horrible. Until he was injured, which has been a huge problem.
I mean, you are pretty much just wrong. He came from like .200 average at the end of april and brought it up to .258 with good power. It wasn't the best season, but he certainly was a force in the lineup.
I just want to point out that both Ellsbury and Youk got off to miserable starts last season, but then ended up recovering. I am not worried about either. They are both great hitters, they will figure it out.
