  1. Sounds like Schilling was sharp today, i hope it keeps up, if Schilling returns to his old form the sky is the limit for this team
  2. I just watched highlights off the game, it seems the only hard hit was the HR, everything else was choppers and cheap hits off papelbon were they showing FB speeds on the mlb.com telecast
  3. Theres going to be like 9 games on Nesn, and like 3 on Espn or something like that
  4. Do you guys think Papelbon should start or be in the pen
  5. Whats the score? My local Am station isnt carrying the game tonight
  6. did paps get out of the second inning
  7. I probally listen uptil papelbon gets taken out. Other than that this game will be boring. It will be good to see a little baseball on saturday, when Beckett takes the hill for the first time.
  8. I dont even know if you guys are talking sori anymore, i done have time to read all the post, but here are my thoughts. If we can get Sorinano for Bronson and say Tony G or someone, do it. Then trade wells, to have a schill-beck-wake-pap-clement rotation. Plus everybody has to admit that watching Ortiz-Manny and Sorri back-to back-to back would be special. I can fully understand people that dont want this to happen, because of the lack of effort on D, however i think he would hit 40+ Hrs at Fenway. Just my thoughts
  9. I honestly think that Papelbon should be starting. He is almost 26 years old, what the hell would the sox be waiting for. I say screw Clement he sucked the last 3 months last year, not to mention it is agonizing watching him pitch. Schill Wake Beckett Papelbon Arroyo I know that it will be either Papelbon or Arroyo in the pen, but i dont know why Clement automaticaly has a spot in the rotation, Arroyo was a much better pitcher in september than Clement was. Another reason why Papelbon has to start is that he is just too damn talented for long relief. His only value to this team in the bullpen would be closing but it is off my opinion that Foulke would return to form. We allready have like 4 setup guys, face it Papelbon has to start.
  10. Wow, youre an idiot, Manny is missing 5 meaningless days of spring training, he isnt even missing any game time. I think Manny has earned the right to show up when ever the hell he pleases. I wouldnt even care if he showed up April 4, Manny is a pure hitter he doesnt need spring training
  11. There would be no reason to boo, the mets made Pedro a much better offer, and he pitched 8 great seasons here, i rarely missed a game that he pitched in. He will get my appluase
  12. As in Pedro, thats the most hillarious thing ive heard yet. Why the hell would the mets trade their best pitcher, when they have a team that could conviably win the W.S this year. That is just not even realistic.
  13. I think Astros come May first is more likely than anything
  14. With Manny and Ortiz in the lineup and a healthy Beckett and Schilling, how can this be a rebuilding year, anyone who says that is a fool
  15. Yeah, i think Rivenator was just ranting and started making things up, like he usually does
  16. How is it overrated, BA i one stat you cant really argue with. Lefties only hit Paps 1.9-10 times, thats damn good if you ask me. Sorry bout the double post
  17. If papelbon is out of the bullpen this year, which i will maintain my postion and say its a bad idea, he could be a dominating force, i would just rather see it for 200 innings. Also If foulke is healthy, thats a big if, Papelbon has to be in the rotation, because we have 3 proven set up guys already. Papelbon=closer, or starter period.
  18. Yes, however Timlin never brought us anywhere coming in with runners on base
  19. Ok, first off, i dont think Tito is a great manager but we have had worse. Also in 04 playoffs his bullpen decisons in my opinon were excellent. Also he left the struggling Damon and Belhorn in the lineup look how that turned out.
  20. As I have been saying all the offseason and espically now, this Red Sox team can win the W.S this year, they cant break up up the best 1-2 duo in the leauge, if our pitching is as good as i think it will be, then this team can compete with anyone
  21. First off, if you think Schilling is going to pitch like he did last year, I think you are very mistaken. After 2004 Schilling could not even walk until about Feb of 05 so. He didnt have a chance to complete his offseason work out plan. He also said in a recent article that his ankle feels 100%. I expect 17-20 wins, 215 innings and 250 K's. I really think Schill has a huge chip on his shoulder and wants to prove people wrong, like he did in game 6:D Schilling=Johnson- right now its a wash but i think personally they will both have much better seasons then 05 Beckett>Mussina- i think this one is fairly ovbious, health is a concern for both Wake> Wang- Pencil wake for 200 innings and 13-16 wins, I do like the way Wang pitched last season however Papelbon>Pavano- I know what we saw on Paps was fairly brief, but this kid brings it to the table, fastball 92-97 improving split and good breaking ball. I know most sox fans expect Paps to be in the bullpen but, he expect him to win a job in spring training Clement/Arroyo= Chacon, I think this is a wash, you just never know what you are going to get from these pitchers every night. Clement has the best stuff, but he just doesnt have the mentalitly to pitch here, i really like the Clement/Cora deal discussed in another thread. The Lineup CF Crisp Lf Manny>Matsui- Matsui is great... but in now way is he close to Manny Rf Nixon 3B Lowell SS Gonzo 2b Lorreta=Cano- Lorreta in front of Manny/Papi will be a great hitter, espcially in Fenway, Cano is going to be great but D wise he isnt there yet 1b Youk C-Varitek>Posada- Hitting wise, Defensively, leadership, Varitek is the better player, and is a great game caller Over all pitching Bos>NYY Offense Bos Defense Bos>NYY(Slight Edge) Bullpen Bos =NYY-Red SOx have more depth, but the Foulke factor Plus Rivera evens things out Divison Redsox Yankees Jays D-rays O's
  22. I would love this trade, get rid of Matt Clement, make room for paps, and pick up a top ss prospect this would be a great deal
  23. Frig no, 3 and half hours and counting
