  1. I say Schilling, simply because I have zero faith in Mussina to win a big game. Schilling is much more rested than Mussina which is a huge benefit. Schill so far has pitched really well since coming off the D.L. He pitched well in Anahiem minus the 7th inning and he was very solid yesterday. I was listening to the game on the radio and they said he topped out at 94 MPH which is a very good sign. I can not really say that much about Mussina lately, however when we saw him against us he was pretty much awful. If his fastball is still topping out at 86-87 I give the distinct edge to Schilling.
  2. Actually his velocity has actually gone up since the begining of the season. He was throwing 89-91 back in May when the Rangers played the Sox in Texas. He has hit 94 on the radar gun with the sox which I am pretty sure his as hard as he has been throwing all season long.
  3. We own the the D-rays, and the the games are at Fenway Park where we have a rediculous record against them. It would be God awful pathetic on our end if we lost a series the the Devil Rays at Fenway Park. The rays pitching is just the worst I think I can remember this season and we should not have a problem scoring 25+ runs in this series. I will say though this team is way to talented to continue to play and lose games like they have in august. I am fully confidant that Gange will find himself and be a big contributer in our rock solid pen the rest of the way. The Yankees can not play this well the rest of the season which is another reason why I am very optimistic about holding on to the divison. We play so many home games towards the end of the season which really IMO gives us this divison. There is one factor that would absolutely put us over the top; if David Ortiz would be David Ortiz for the remaining six weeks of the season. He just hasn't been himself with all the injury problems and his lack of power has be very detramental to the offensive success of the ballclub.
  4. It's freaking on, this team is to good to blow the lead they have held all season long. We just need Gange to stop sucking, if we hadn't made that trade we probably would have swept the O's this weekend.
  5. The Dodgers are not good enough to make the playoffs.
  6. I take the pitching, however it would be nice to have SS all set for the next 10-15 years.
  7. Screw this offense, screw J.D. Drew. He is the biggest reason on why this offense hasn't clicked this season. 14 million wasted and for 5 years!! Nobody eles really wanted this guy and we still gave him that money and to me that is baffling.
  8. Just because I haven't posted about the Celtics many times on Talk Sox doesn't mean I haven't watched a lot of sucky, sucky basketball over the last three years.
  9. I think this team could win a series against one of the top three teams in the west. It is probably unlikely, however, it is going to be really hard to shut down Allen, Pierce, and Garnett. This team could realisticly win a championship this year. I really think that they need to go out and sign and Breven Knight, and a P.J. Brown which is also realistic. If those two steps are taken the Celtics will be a very legitimate title contender. I am really freaking excited for the NBA season to begin. (Never thought I would say that)
  10. I really wish Gomes wasn't involved. He would have been the perfect piece of the bench for this team next season.
  11. Hey, the Celtics have become relevant again! I actually can't wait for the NBA season to begin. I don't know how long it's been since I've said that. Actually maybe never in my life time. I really think we could win a championship next season which is really exciting. The Sox, Patriots and Celtics all winning championships in the season school year, that would be teriffic.
  12. It seems very unlikely that the Sox will have any chance for Teixeria now, to beat the braves package they would probably have to give up Ellsbury and Buchholz which is really stupid IMO.
  13. Look's like Manny is back to being Manny again. He has 6 homers and 19 RBI's since the allstar break, which is a great thing for this team obviously. Now if we could only get David Ortiz going...
  14. Mike Lowell is the RBI f***ing machine!
  15. What a good idea it was to put Crisp in that 5th spot. Seriously though Crisp should be batting first or second right now, Ortiz being out really does screw with the lineup. When is he coming back anyways?
  16. Dicek is giving up rockets right now, this feels like one of those games where he battles in and out of trouble for a few innings but then finally gives it up in the like the 4th or 5th inning. This has happened quite a bit lately.
  17. Again I am still not too worried, I mean let's face it, this has happened two times so far this year. The Yankees have basically had two good stretches all year, and both times they were coupled with the Red Sox poor play, I don't think the Yankees are as good as they are playing and I think the Red Sox are much better than they are playing right now. Watch us take 3-4 from the White Sox and have the Yankees lose 3-4 and the lead will be back up to 9 games. As much as we look horrible right now, it is still going to be pretty hard to blow this lead, unless of course Julian Tavarez stays in the rotation...
  18. I had forgoten what it was like to score multiple runs in an inning, I like think I like it.
  19. Take note because it doesn't happen often.
  20. Lugo is an excellent hitter, I can't believe we ever doubted him.
