  1. Alright, heres my two cents on this whole debate. I pretty much have to agree with the crowd saying wait and see. If Mike Lowell and Ortiz are healthy, the Red Sox are going to have a very deep and good lineup. I think that getting Mark Texiera would have instantly made our lineup historically good, and I share the frusteration at the FO for losing by 10 million dollars, it sucks. Anyone who doesnt think that sucks is oblivious as hell. Seriously you could have a guy thats 28 anchoring your lineup for the next 8 years, and you wouldnt do that? Lars Anderson might end up being a nice player, but who the hell knows. That being said I am not going to give up on the season, we could still be very good and win the WS. If our lineup happens to click on all cylinders its going to be better than we have seen it for the last three years. Just think about how awesome it would be if Lowell, Ortiz, Drew, Pedroia, Youk and Bay were all performing up to their best abilities? That would be one heck of an offensive show. Thats why I am not giving up, because there is a pretty good chance that could happen. We have talent, and we can do well next year. I am just slightly disapointed that we didnt make our lineup guarenteed good for the next decade.
  2. Woah, I think its tough to say if the Red Sox are a 3rd place team. If Lowell can get back to his 07 form and Papi could be Papi, then there is no reason to think that the Red Sox are just as good if not better than the Yankees. I really dont think statements can really be thrown around like this right now, because it completely 100% depends on the health of those two players. If they are right, then its going to be very even on paper.
  3. Midly annyoying maybe, but Douchebag? Maybe you should take a look in the mirror, because you kind of rub off as a major *******.
  4. Wait, so you would give youk 23 million a year, but not Teixeria?
  5. We Lost to the Yankees in a FA negotation. We were willining to pay 170 million dollars. The Red Sox will still sign big time players to big money when they see the right opportunity. Teixeria was the right opportunity, and they lost. Thats all there is too it. I wouldnt be shocked if we gave Derek Lowe a big contract for 4 years. Look, I dont know why people think our mindset has changed, last time I checked the Red Sox are a big market team, that brings in revenue probably better than anyone not named the New York Yankees. Overreaction.
  6. Thoughts? I think they will sign Derek Lowe and resign Varitek. This would give them a very formidable rotation along with a very solid bullpen with great depth. Their offense could be great next season. It could also fall apart and be very average. If Mike Lowell and David Ortiz can bounce back, and Drew can have a good year then the Red Sox offense will be fine and the Sox will easily compete with the Rays and Yanks. If Lowell doesnt come back and be himself, and if David Ortiz's major decline continues this offense is in deep s***. Signing Teixeria would have almost gaurented our offense be excellent next year, but now we have to wait until spring training to find anything out. It should be interesting at least. It always is.
  7. Watching these contracts lead NY back to prominence, gut renching.
  8. Do you really think Manny will act out in a way that destroys the team? I do not want manny to sign with the Yankees, that scares the living s*** out of me, and it should scare everyone. Especially for next year. Manny was only a minor headache for most of his time here, and he will probably be on pretty good behavior next year where ever he goes.
  9. Has anyone who is directly involved with player personell been there for 30 years? Your story is ********.
  10. The Jets would probably have a better record.
  11. Yeah right. 36 year old with a ticking time bomb for an elbow getting that kind of security? I dont buy it.
  12. Ive started to like the retro uniforms a little more, but the can we all agree the hats kind of suck?
  13. Would you go Buchholz, Bowden and a lesser calibur prospect?
  14. God, of all people, Im starting to resent Manny. UGH, why the hell couldnt you just strap up keep your baby mouth shut for one more half season? From this day forward I am officially denouncing my Manny fandom.
  15. Yeah, I guess I forgot that he was pitching in Pecto for some reason. However, if we could get him with Buchholz as the main piece, dont you have to consider it?
  16. And this is funny?
  17. You know as fun as it was to watch the Yankees struggle and suck last year, I think it will make the baseball season more interesting with the Yankees as serious contenders. Don't get me wrong, if all these signings blow up in the Yankees face I will be happy, but watching good exciting baseball against hated rivals is much more fun. 2003 through 2004 were collectively my two favorite baseball seasons to follow, and heated, intense passoniate Red Sox Yankees matchups had alot to do with that. I hope we sing Texieira and get another arm, and I think next year could be the best AL race we have ever seen.
  18. I cant really disagree with you, I will say though the Sox bullpen got alot better after July 31st after a pretty rough start to the season.
  19. Oh, and honestly I would personally take a 6 inning pitcher who would have a low to mid 3 ERA and strike out around 9 guys per 9 innings. As far as getting deep into games though, I think that Peavy would be just as good as Beckett and Lester as far as getting into the 7th and 8th innings.
