Can you challenge a flag though? And no, if Caldwell learns how to close his mits on the ball we don't go to overtime, we win. Period. I would put more blame on Caldwell then the refs.

Don't pat yourself on the back too hard, champ. Papelbon, Lester, Hansen and Pedroia are no longer considered prospects and therefore wouldn't be factored in here.

If I were Theo I would take a flyer on Jesus Colome. You can always use to take a chance on a scrap heap reliever and every now and then you get lucky, ala Aaron Small w/ yankees.

OF COURSE HE LOST WEIGHT!!! He was battling cancer? What did you expect he did fight it off like some Braveheart scene or something? He is working this offseason to get the weight back, and the sox will do anything but rush him. But, he is 22, and he'll gain it back fast and recover quickly. He will be what he was pre-surgery and will be a big piece come '08. In 07, its all up to how fast he recovers. I could see him starting come the all-star break. It would be like a nice trade-deadline acquisition, except without giving up anything.

Don't bother. Matsuzaka is head and shoulders better than Igawa. Igawa is a soft tosser with no where near Matsuzaka stuff. Matsuzaka has been down right dominant. It might not translate right away into dominance in the majors, but he's very very good and will more than likely post a very good season. Igawa might get rocked. I put Matsuzaka at around 14-16 wins, a 3.50 ERA, and 190k's in 200 innings. I put Igawa at 12-14 wins, a 4.70 ERA, and 190k's in 200 innings. The ERA might be generous with Igawa.

But at the same time, part of being a professional baseball player is making adjustments. Youk will come back and adjust to their adjustments. I'm not saying he is a .310 hitter, but .280-.290 with good on base isn't out of reach. Youk is a pro. He isn't just going to become a .260 hitter because the league learned how to pitch him, he'll learn how to hit in the bigs. Lugo Coco Ortiz Manny Drew Lowell Youk Varitek (come back season?) Pedroia That coupled with our pitching staff is a scary good lineup. We need something to happen in the 'pen, be it Piniero running with the closer job, or Hansen and Delcarmen stepping up into the set-up core. Whatever it is, our bullpen is our biggest weakness right now, but its pretty big. -

Coco must be hitting somewhere around .300 career as #2 hitter cause thats where he batted in Cleveland. I'd go with him batting second and Lugo leading off to start. -
