  1. Stoneman is ridiculous, but he might look very smart if they can get wood, kendrick and mcpherson in that lineup.
  2. Everything I've read suggests the Rockies are holding out for Delcarmen. Delcarmen hasn't put up numbers at the ML level but to say he projects as a MR is underrating him a bit. He has upside. He's what, 26? throws 95, good curve, needs to show consistency. The NL could do wonders for him. MDC and Fuentes in the NL is kinda cool.
  3. Yeah, the jury has to be out on Piniero still. ST is a different kind of beast. Guys aren't going out trying to win games, they're trying to get themselves into game shape for the season. Papelbon last year had bad numbers and good stuff in ST, he said himself he wasn't worried about results, and when he came out and said he expected a good outing, he came out and had one. If two weeks from now Joel is still throwing beach balls, thats another thing, but right now its not a big deal. I do think he sucks though. And the thought of JC Romero makes me feel sick.
  4. Donnelly looks good. Timlin to Donnelly might not be horrible, but I'd like to see someone else step up. When Hansen gets back I'd like to see how he fares, cause if Hansen goes back to mowing people down like he did before his call up, I think he deserves a look. If Timlin, Donnelly to Hansen makes sense come april, we could have something special on our hands. I think Papelbon is going to proove to be more valuable than any of us think out of the rotation, and Hansen has been touted for awhile now. If he lives up all of a sudden we have D-mat, Beckett, Papelbon and Lester in the rotation for a good long time getting the ball to Hansen, all well under 30, mostly very affordable. Thats the dream scenario we should be rooting for. MDC might have a turn around, but I doubt it. I'd rather see him traded before the ceiling caves in. Piniero looks flat out ordinary.
  5. Powerless or not, Helton is still taking up way too much payroll to allow the rockies to be competitive. They will trade him, maybe they'll do it at mid-season, but they take more risk the more they wait. I would give up MDC in a heart beat in this deal, Hansen, not so much. I think talks will heat up again, but I don't know if Theo will make a move because he is more stubborn about prospects and young pitchers than any man on earth. I highly doubt anything gets done just because of that. If the Rockies all of a sudden become willing to pay 45-50 mil ( i think they were willing to do 30 - 35 before correct me if im wrong) then the Sox will probably be willing to talk about MDC or someone of that ilk. No way does Ellsbury or Hansen go anywhere though.
  6. Guys like to work on very specific things in spring training. They tinker with things, and aren't neccessarily going out there trying to get outs. Give it time. Romero is awful, though. I hope he doesn't make the team. Okajima will be a much better option.
  7. Schilling was the heaviest sox in 2004 and he had a great year. He looks heavy, doesn't mean he's out of shape though.
  8. careful chief, that might be close to a bannable offense. Slander of phish is punishable by... i dont know... ill think of something. Anyone here Becketts short interview at ST? It was on TV but my mom blabbed through it and I couldn't hear a thing. Anyone see it? Anything cool? And hey, phish is getting back together, example, and they're always relevant... as long as no one bashes. I agree try to keep it baseball, but really especially now staying strictly to the topic just ain't gonna happen. When we have a heated thread going, stray talk isn't appreciated, but this time of year there really isn't any such thing.
  9. Nothing wrong with a little pot, and yes jamaica is very cool, but lets keep it baseball. Anyone wants to hear some pot stories, feel free to use the PM system. The forums are for baseball, though. A half pound in a week ain't happening by the way...
  10. haha, 8 wangs.... sorry.
  11. are you pretending to be ridiculous?
  12. Post of the year.
  13. He did say this would be his toughest offseason ever. So, if anything, he is just as out of shape as he was before.
  14. Ordway and the big show is about as unreliable as it gets... ever.
  15. His rocky start in AAA was due to a 60 pitch limit imposed on him by the FO to keep him fresh if they needed him in the second half.
  16. They did win about 98 last year, I think theyll make a push.
  17. Pretty confident there, Nostradamus?
  18. Boras could get Rosie O'Donnell a 10 Million a year deal as a starter in the bigs (obviously she'd be behind the plate), so I highly doubt he is going to have a tought time finding a starting job for Varitek, especially when you consider the scarcity of a good catcher these days.
  19. And what if Oden is the next shaq?
  20. I resign Schilling at 13 mil right now, which he indicated would get it done. Move wake to the pen and throw a rotation of Beckett, D-Mat, Papelbon, Schilling and Lester. This also depends who hits the market next fall. If there is someone the Sox have their eye on, Schilling does free up quite a bit of bank, and I wouldn't be averse to the Sox going out and inking someone a little younger.
  21. Not speaking english will be a blessing.
  22. Alright, Celts fans, lets run down the best case scenario. The Celts keep bombing, we wind up with a high pick in the draft. For the purposes of conversation, lets say we don't get robbed by a lottery ball and wind up with the #1. Who do you take with the pick? I'm guessing either Oden or Durant, but if there is someone else throw them out there, but basically its gonna be between these two... Personally, I like Oden, but I'm not too basketball saavy anymore, I need to get back into it. I was wondering what you guys think...
  23. He has too many good pitches to "bomb" he might not be the second coming of koufax, but he isn't going to bomb.
  24. Manny has showed zero signs of slowing down. Thats why Manny commands more on the trade market.
